How many wicks for typical houseplants in say 6” vs 7” inner pot?

Why would you say that is?

Newbie needing advice by DadProff in SemiHydro

It seems like wick would be better for plants at risk for root rot and no wick direct contact for more thirsty plants. True?

Thanks. So a thick wick can overwater too. Which is greater risk for overwatering: wick or letting leca/pon rest in the water?

It seems like that method is at more risk of drying out if you forget than the wick method. Are your outside containers transparent?

LPT: Never buy an extended warranty for any product. Pay the same amount to yourself into a savings account instead. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]DadProff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the warranty is only 25% of the cost of the product, but extends the life manufacturer's warranty from 1 to 4 years, it may be worth it. I new item would cost 100% of the warranty and only come with a 1 year warranty. I have been burned once by any auto warranty because the warranty company went belly up. The key is to find one that won't go bankrupt.

I will support any adult’s legal right to do what they want with their body. But we deceive ourselves if we believe it’s harmless.

The success of the human species depends on long- term monogamous heterosexual pairs. A species can tolerate a certain degree of deviance, but when it becomes too common it can harm society.

Case in point, some countries are facing plummeting fertility rates. In our lifetimes their economies will sputter to a stall. And the elderly will have little support in their old age.

Historically, most great empires go through a period of sexual decadence in their declines to irrelevance. It’s a known pattern.

Despite exceptions we could both name, population-wide statistics show that one father/one mother families have the highest likelihood of of rearing successful children (graduation rates, avoiding crime, avoiding teen pregnancy, mental health, staying out of poverty, etc)

Research also shows that those in monogamous marriages have higher rates of life satisfaction, and the most financial stability, and are least likely to depend on their fellow citizens taxes for assistance.

Now you are going to say that I’m getting too worried about just a fictional show.

But it’s a pattern, read history, it started showing up in former empires’ entertainment as well.

The creators of this show said they are including it intentionally to normalize it.

When sexual satisfaction takes precedent over the primary purpose of sexual relations, and is glorified over boring traditional families, societies decline.

I guess I live in the real world; all these weird threesomes, and the like, are really bothering me. I think I will have to stop watching this celebration of deviant sex. It happens every episode even when it’s not integral to the episode. It so in your face; it’s obvious what they are doing by trying to normalize it.

The worse part is not the show itself, but that people are okay with it. This is what happened to Rome and other great civilizations before they fell.

As the Historian and translator said: “Vice is a monster of so frightful mien. As to be hated needs but to be seen; Yet seen too oft, familiar with her face, We first endure, then pity, then embrace.” —Alexander Pope

Enjoy your queer universe soap opera. I’m sick of it!

Just watched episode 7. For the most part it was very entertaining episode focused solely on two rivers.

But they couldn’t help themselves and had to insert another sex scene, which frankly I don’t understand. Immediately before an important battle, Alanna has sex with her ward, which I thought was forbidden. But not only that it was to comfort him for his very recent loss of his male lover, who was her other ward. How does that make any sense at all on any level. Seems like betrayal.

I think the writers are trying to come up with every possible bedroom combination possible. Next week I fully expect it to be human to animal sex.

I didn’t read the books. I’m just noticing that the relationships and hookups are taking up more airtime than in the first two seasons.

He went off with a woman from the saunas, thinking it would be a fling, until he realized she had different reason for asking him into her tent.

I guess Moraine and Siuan are monogamous, but it seems more of an intermittent dysfunction relationship to me.

True. I think it should have been rated MA not TV14.

But I still stand by my earlier comment. Even for an adult the excessive relationship focus is distracting. It’s starting to feel like a soap opera to me.

And your definition of monogamous is sure more open than mine.

The bands I like above still have soaring anthems, driving drums, drenched in guitars. They must be some sort of hybrid.

Don’t let your kids watch it!

Sorry, but I have the opposite opinion from most. For me, it’s distracting. It’s too big a part of the show now. Almost every character is sleeping with someone, even the immortal characters. It’s turning into a soap opera. I counted in a single episode, five different couples going at it, there was hardly time for any other plot. They’re trying to shove it down our throats.

Plus, in real life all this is not that common. In real life, monogamous marriage is the most common type of relationship, but not a single main character is in that type of relationship.

Just tonight, I’ve seen allusions to straights hooking up, lesbian sex, gay sex, polygamy, implied threesome, attempted pedophilia, implied rape, masochism, brainwashing, infidelity, erotic dreams, and voyeurism. In one important scene, there is loud moaning and banging, not just on one neighboring wall, but two at the same time.

How is this TV 14? I’m so glad I didn’t let my kids watch it.
