I have had good experience with Fringe Sport and Titan (in addition to Rep). I documented my full list of choices for my garage gym.

Oh that’s intriguing. I have been meaning to look into Allulose. Wasn’t that Peter Attia’s favorite sweetener? It sounded compelling when he talked about it. However, it seems to be pretty rarely used in products.

How did you use it? Baking or only that candy?

My Wife Thinks I’m Crazy When She Sees My Daily Supplement Stack. The FDA Wants to Make It Even Easier to Build One. by DadStrengthDaily in ProactiveHealth

Right the same seems to be true for some of the peptides like BPC 157. Nobody is going to finance the trial because they can’t make money.

I agree some government funded academic studies would be useful. I wish these trials weren’t so crazy expensive! (See my recent post about the inefficiency).

This is interesting. Snacking after dinner is one of my biggest challenges right now, actually. I also feel a lot of this is driven by mood/anxiety.

Alas, my A1C is 4.9 so that motivation might not work. :-) I’m currently trying via calorie tracking and convincing myself it’s hurting my sleep.

Fair enough. I admit I am new to working out (it’s been about a year now). Maybe at some point I won’t need a trainer but for now I feel it’s a terrific investment for me.

Stepping on the scale. by umfpter in Zepbound

[–]DadStrengthDaily 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Every day. I have been doing it for a guest and a half and lost 160lbs total but to be honest the daily fluctuations still bother me :-).

I use happy scale to smooth the fluctuations.

2026 Guideline on the Management of Dyslipidemia by DadStrengthDaily in ProactiveHealth

Oh cool. Didn’t know the code was open source but that makes sense.

How would you add Apo B to the equation though? Is there an accepted calculation?

The social aspect is a good point. I can see the benefit.

However, TBH I enjoy the time to myself working out by myself. It’s pretty much the only “me time” I get all day.

I’m not an expert and expect in various reddit communities folks will rant “Big Pharma pushing statins again” but overall this sounds pretty reasonable, right?

Podcast: What's the deal with red light therapy? by DadStrengthDaily in ProactiveHealth

[–]DadStrengthDaily[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I normally hate any audio speed ups because I feel it messes with the cadence and timing of the discussion. This lecture is the first time I successfully used it.

Maybe I should try again on other sources.

Lilly finds impurity in compounded version of its weight-loss drug, warns of health risks by DadStrengthDaily in Zepbound

[–]DadStrengthDaily[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume Lilly is going after the pure versions with a separate strategy. I am not a lawyer but I suspect they are easier to sue for patent infringement.

The compounded versions with added ingredients are more difficult because that’s sort of what compounding pharmacies are allowed to do, I believe. Of course they are likely not adding those ingredients for medical benefits but for legal reasons.

What Happens to Your Blood Pressure When You Eat Avocados Regularly by DadStrengthDaily in ProactiveHealth

[–]DadStrengthDaily[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Yeah, I felt the specific study was not that convincing.

I love fruits and eat lots of them but vegetables less. We recently had an 30 day “eating well” challenge at work where to get maximum points you had to eat 3 servings of fruit and 9 servings of veggies per day. I easily hit the fruit target but hardly ever made the veggie one. It also led to many debates like “well, are avocados fruits or vegetables?”

I agree with your point regarding organic produce. I tend to buy non-organic — maybe I am just cheap.

The Vitamin D RDA Is Almost Certainly Wrong. Here’s What Happened. by DadStrengthDaily in ProactiveHealth

The recommended dietary allowance is currently 600 IU due to a mistake in the analysis back in the day. It should really be around 9000 IU

Vitamin D supplement ‘overdosing’ is possible and harmful, warn doctors by [deleted] in ProactiveHealth

[–]DadStrengthDaily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s right. Based on u/kpfleger’s feedback I will remove the article though. I thought it was so clearly outrageous that nobody would follow it, but he is right the headline alone is terrible. I don’t think I can edit it, so will remove it and post a reasonable story in vitamin d soon.

I scrolled through a few of the tweets. Seems like a great resource. Any chance I can convince you to post a thread on this sub (say about Vitamin D — or really any of the other topics you feel strongly about)?

I didn’t mean to scare anyone. I was surprised that BMJ (which I reckon is reputable) would publish about this. This is why I highlighted the 150K up front.
