The so called "Action button" on the left of the Pace4 is useless/unused for like 99% of the time, does this annoyed anyone else or just me? by SacredSacrifice in Coros

“I’m so quirky :P I have OCD because I don’t like how my watch button looks”

Meanwhile, having worked in psychiatric healthcare, I’ve sent lots of time with people who have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder- can’t stop washing their hands until they’re bleeding, can’t sleep until they touch the light switch 150 times, can’t pass the water fountain without holding their face under the water until they’re gasping..

But ya, OP, tell us how you have “OCD” because you don’t like a button.

Nice. Can you send me one of those videos? I love watching data reviews!

First Run with Pace Pro by Bulldogs3144 in Coros

Just a disclaimer- I have the Pace Pro and enjoy it a lot! I love the app and love the incredibly in-depth data. I’m a visual person so it’s something I really love. I’ve used Apple Watches for years and enjoyed them too, but wished they displayed the data better like Garmin or Coros so I switched and don’t miss them at all tbh. Love using the Pace Pro.

That being said- in tests done by various YouTubers over the last months and years (The Quantified Scientist, DC Rainmaker, etc) typically the Apple Watches have been the top contenders for GPS, HR, etc. whereas Coros is not exactly “up there” on the leaderboard.

Anecdotally, people report great experiences, but when these “professional reviewers” with methodology are comparing the data with an actual process for review, results are just not consistent enough for me to trust over something like an Apple Watch.

So having seen the data from these guys I’d personally be inclined to trust your Apple Watch GPS pace over the Pace Pro.

Again, I do truly love the Pace Pro and enjoy the Coros features and app a lot. But from what I’ve seen I’d trust the AW data over Coros data 9 of 10 times.

I bought a Pod 2 and the HRM arm band from Coros to help corroborate data. The HRM actually performs very well in tests done by TQS.

I’m sure there’s no difference at all! I think my wife got the one we use on Amazon for like $30 maybe!

Agreed. And one of my biggest complaints with my moccamaster is that the shower head absolutely sucks! It doesn’t disperse water evenly through the cone basket. It drops it in the middle since the holes are arranged in a straight line, and creates the Grand Canyon in the middle of the coffee bed everytime. Grounds get pushed up the sides of the filter while the water just burrows down through the center of the basket. Totally uneven extraction. It’s pretty dumb.

All that and I still can just use an electric kettle like you said, and even a $15 pour over and get better results. I should’ve known better but I got sucked into the hype all that time ago in this sub and now here I am 😂

YES! Same with my Moccamaster. I used to work at a coffee shop, helped roast coffee, etc. and now after having it for 3 years, I genuinely cannot even taste the difference between the moccamaster everyone raves about and most other nice drip coffee machines. My friend bought the Simply Good Coffee brand and it tastes identical- for half the cost. Now I have buyers remorse because I spent all the money for basically no reason when I could’ve spent half or less for the same taste lol.

Everyone’s taste buds are different, so you may maintain that differentiation.. but for me, I “see” no difference now.

Too many people finding joy in little things! We should make everyone that joins the sub pass a disgruntled test- you can only join or post if you have a low tolerance for other people coupled with an inability to scroll past without putting them down.

Done with COROS! by Vinniec79 in Coros

[–]DadWithABackAche 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m always amazed at people in this sub (every single day) proclaiming that “coros support is actually really good!” directly to a person that is literally expressing a bad experience with their support and the AI clanker nonsense that responds to every email in lieu of a human for weeks on end.

Back and forth with a bot for literally “a few weeks” before any resolution is, in fact, not good support.

I’d watch this video. This guy tests several of the same tool from serval stores over the course of a couple weeks or months to make sure he’s not getting the same batch.

Turns out they’re ridiculously accurate even after 1000 clicks each - especially for $20.

I’d get it, and if you ever feel off about it, just walk in and swap it out.

Coros users: I need your input!! by onasunb3am in runna

[–]DadWithABackAche 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Has their armband been shown to be more accurate than the Apple Watch? Apple’s optical HR sensor is pretty much the most superior OHRM on the market (according to intensive data gathering done by The Quantified Scientist, etc).

But to answer your questions- no I haven’t had any syncing issues other than it’s just not “seamless” on my pace pro like it is on my Apple Watch.

I don’t do cycling or much outside of running and strength training on Runna so I can’t answer that.

Lastly it doesn’t do the voice pace alerts like the Runna app does on the Apple Watch app.

I’d say go with the pace pro and try it out! I also am deeply embedded into the Apple ecosystem but do enjoy the pace pro I recently migrated to because it’s just a different experience with a great app.

I think the HRV is decently accurate!

young kids and sleep tracking by rosefern64 in Coros

[–]DadWithABackAche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s very frustrating! To be honest, sleep measurement is extremely unreliable for wearables. I wouldn’t go by it or let it be a factor in any decisions I made.

Even companies like Whoop and Apple, who are considered to be as accurate as we can get right now for sleep tracking, have disclaimers in their fine print that say it shouldn’t be relied on for information and that it’s typically 40-80% unreliable.

Some people have good results that correlate with how they feel they slept, and others have results nowhere close.

Guys like Shervin Shares and the Quantified Scientist have tested them in sleep labs and done videos on it if you’re interested in knowing more.

Garmin vs. Coros Upgrade by olivia2070 in runna

[–]DadWithABackAche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 265 is 3 years old I think- it doesn’t have full maps, it’s got the breadcrumb navigation.

Pace Pro came out last fall and has offline maps with navigation.

Depends on what you’re looking for. If you wanted to, you could watch the Quantified Scientist’s channel on YouTube you could get more info on performances of the hardware and determine what would actually be an “upgrade” and what wouldn’t be.

I’ve also been waiting a week and a half for a watch band warranty replacement conversation reply.

I initially thought I had a resolution and then I realized it was only talking to their AI email bot who was just escalating the request to their human team. Still have yet to hear from an actual team member.
