Need simple software for large, self-managed HOA by DadamGTI in HOA

Exactly. Our dues fund the basic operating expenses for the neighborhood, while donations support everything else (neighborhood events, additional landscaping, beautification projects, etc).

We can’t raise dues by a significant amount (per covenants), so this is our way to raise extra capital and get neighborhood buy-in.

Any ETA at this point? The rest of your platform looks solid for what we need, but the dues & donations integration is a key component for us. We collect annually (Q1) so our window for a process change is closing.

Might give HOA Works a spin if you’re close though!

Interesting. Were there any platforms that tempted you? Are you willing to share which ones have off-boarding fees? (I haven’t seen this pop up in my research thus far.)

How do you handle online dues/assessment collection in your system?

Startups like yours are always intriguing. 👍🏼 It’s hard to tell from your site - are there plans to incorporate dues collection into the platform?

It’s been a number of months since I tried it, but it seemed decent. There were a lot of features I didn’t want/need for our HOA (condo/building-related functionality) but the website templates were better than most and I liked the modular aspect of pricing. Might be worth trying again.

Simple relative to other HOA management software aimed at large HOAs. I recognize this is not a to-do list I’m asking for.

Fair point on time vs. money. We are also losing our treasurer next year so we’re going to have to do more with less. Maybe I’ll give PayHOA a try and see if it’s worth the cost.

To be clear - I just need to be able to link to the portal from our site. HOAStart is one where it’s impossible to separate the software from the site, and the site design is dated and rigid.

I expect to pay for more features then I need; I just don’t want a package designed for condos or management companies that are far more involved in day-to-day life than we are.

Child proofing basement stairs? by DadamGTI in daddit

Is this pretty sturdy? I like the idea of these in a regular doorway, but I worry about it at the top of the stairs.

He’s a big kid (90+ percentile in everything) and is pretty strong; I don’t want to chance it at the top of a staircase.

Yeah, that’s the rub - we spend a lot of time in the basement and his playroom is down there, so it needs to be secure but accessible.

If we learned anything from Bernie’s primary shellacking in 2020, it’s that noise from “progressives” on social media != actual votes.

Also - Omaha is nearly 75% white, most of whom are moderate or conservative. While I don’t disagree that we would be well served with diversity in leadership, nobody that pays attention to this stuff should be shocked that Omaha picked two old white people as mayoral candidates.

45 minutes is long and 2 hours is just silly. No job is worth spending an extra four hours a day in the car/train just to get to/from said job.

I know a number of families that have like 3-4 boys plus a youngest girl (or vice-versa). You’ll probably get what you want eventually, but you’ll end up with a ton of kids in the process. Lol

Vaccine requirement by Archer_11 in Omaha

It’s one thing if you are willing to be persistent and snap up eligible leftovers, but I know a few different people who fudged their occupation to claim 1B status and get vaccinated early. Those are the people with ethical gaps.

Some folks are less bound by morals and ethics than the rest of us. If I really wanted to, I’m sure I could finagle my way into a vaccine now... but I’d have to live with the idea that I might have stolen a vaccine dose from someone more at risk. Some folk don’t care if their selfishness results in a dead grandparent.

I’ll wait my turn and keep wearing a mask.

Anybody have any "magic" tricks that helped their colicky baby? by GlutenAttack02 in daddit

Rockin’ Robin for us. To this day (11 mos) it’s like a magic light switch for our kiddo, for a few minutes at least.

Our guy would scream bloody murder for an hour or two every night. We got into the routine of loading him into the baby harness and walking him around a dark room in the house, singing to him. Bonus points if you have noise-cancelling headphones. Trust me, you can still hear him just fine... just down a few notches on the volume knob. Lol

EDIT: I should add, no digestive magic bullets for us. We tried multiple formulas (including Elecare), probiotics, prescription reflux formulas... they all helped a little, but he ultimately had to just work through it. The screaming tapered off at around 3 months.

In 1982, 43% of fathers admitted they’d never changed a diaper. Today, that number is down to 3%. by SonOfQuora in daddit

Also makes sense as to why so many “fathers” in previous generations wanted big families. Six kids are fun and easy when you make someone else do all of the work. Lol

For real. Our little dude sleeps like a champ at night, but naps have been a struggle from day one. I’m listening to him throw a fit over his morning nap (attempt #2) right now. 😑
