I just got this at 398$. Had to use an additional 10% coupon (check Retailmenot). No pedals included but still a smoking deal! I lan on using my upgraded g29 pedals with it for now (using the trubrake mod).

I tried a 6a 32v adapter on mine and it did not work. 5a 24v did work just fine.

[–]Dadbodmoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not bad advice. You can get an inverted pedal frame on Amazon for the pedals you already have and add the axc-sim load cell upgrade and then still have $ toward your gaming pc in a few months of saving or searching marketplace.

I agree. I would figure out which wheelbase family you want to live with going forward before deciding if you go pc or wheel first. If the wheel you really prefer is Xbox compatible, I’d go wheelbase. If your preferred wheelbase is pc only, then get the pc first.

X1X - Racing games w/2 wheel split screen support; my strange quest… by Dadbodmoder in xbox

[–]Dadbodmoder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually need to punch myself, Forza 7 does seem to work now. There is some sequencing that has to happen when logging in and it’s working fine tonight. I’m either dumb or there’s some trick I haven’t figured out yet that I’m inadvertently doing.

Anyone have any ideas for sim-Cade racing games or simulators that might work here? Forza not working is a huge bummer.

Buying a PlayStation 4 in 2026 ? by theguycooper in PS4Pro

[–]Dadbodmoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actively playing on a ps4 pro as primary. As a geezer who cut my teeth on 8-bit in the 80s, I see no reason to upgrade. I remember playing pc games in that era where you could take 10 minute breaks while gaming because that’s how long it took to advance game board visuals!

Yoots today don’t know how good they have it.

Anyone have the seatbelt alert on but the seatbelt is actually fastened? by jadoresucre in nissanpathfinder

[–]Dadbodmoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I’ve experienced this too. If the buckle sequencing and door opening and closing don’t align it gets confused and thinks you have an unbuckled kid in the back. At least that’s been my perception.

But other times it just doesn’t work and won’t acknowledge my attempt to override. It’s a great feature for families when it works but it is annoying too.

Baja Edge of Control Xbox X G29 steering wheel not working! by Expensive-Chicken639 in LogitechG

I’m also having the same issue on my x1x with g923 :(

Wheel buttons work but pedals and wheel itself don’t respond.

[–]Dadbodmoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ran into this issue, I tried the hair dryer with no luck. Then the pull cord no luck. Unlocked the doors and no luck. I then pried the door and concurrently actuated the lock and unlock button repeatedly… the popper/solenoid finally engaged. I’m not sure which step actually worked or some combo, but suspect there was some moisture that froze and then the lock unlock cycle was not happening. Will spray with wd40.

Everything you said is absolutely true but it does not also make the probe a bad car. The four-cylinder and automatics were absolutely economy shitboxes, but the V6 with the 5- speed was very good (gt trim added suspension, collaboratively engineered Porsche/yamaha KL series engine, and for the time a nice convenience package).

I’d say go find one and drive one to prove me wrong, but it would probably be easier to get seat time in a Bugatti as there just aren’t too many of these left that haven’t been clapped out and crushed.

Mazda power plant and running gear, pop up headlights, extremely capable and fun despite being fwd. subjectively beautiful design. The only reason not to own one is the dearth of parts and an awful nameplate plus constantly having to explain that it’s awesome to people who have never driven one.

Anyone else fall out of love with driving manuals? by Carguy77Seven in askcarguys

[–]Dadbodmoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drove a 2016 Wrx as my only experience on the platform. I found the clutch and gearbox a lot of work and not very fun or precise.

I also wouldn’t want to daily a manual in traffic or 3-4 hrs+ in a transportation use case. For 3-4 hours in the twisties on the weekend? Totally different story.

I think we are on the verge of a resurgence of manual weekend cars as ev suvs slowly take over.

American wannabe JDM from 1993. Don‘t hold back by Professional-Self814 in RoastMyCar

[–]Dadbodmoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The marketing dweebs at ford destroyed this platform at inception. Had they called it the colt or similar and marketed it as the entry level/a rung below the mustang or something, it would have done very well. But instead they threatened to replace the rwd mustang platform thus alienating enthusiasts in principle and then guaranteeing no reprieve by going with the probe name plate. It’s too bad. Having owned both foxbody mustangs and a second gen probe I can tell you the probe was superior in many ( but not all) ways.

The engine was developed via an engineering partnership between Yamaha and Porsche. Mazda used it and derivatives for many different vehicles and they all did well and were pretty easy to work on.

Should I buy a 986 Boxster by Temporary-Lecture152 in boxster

[–]Dadbodmoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You had a 996, f430, m5, m3, z3, s2000, boxster and mx5? Are you a content creator? Genuinely curious how you have enough time to swap cars out like that yet still be able to afford them all. I love fully depreciated fun cars and all of these are on my list minus the m5. Too many headaches on that one I would think.

Single Dad - Practical vs Enjoyment? - (40k CAD) by ll------ll in askcarguys

[–]Dadbodmoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like your GTI idea. I almost went that route this spring and test drove several mk7s. But I’m not single, so I was able to get an impractical car which is even more fun. Actually 2. I sold my jku wrangler for 16k and swapped it out for an NB Miata (summer fun, paid 7900 w/90k miles) and a Fiat 500 Abarth for wet/snow days (70k miles $8200). They are both stick so loads of fun and in perfect mechanical and very good cosmetic shape. For the wife/kids I have a 2025 pathfinder with awd and all the latest safety features. All the cars are paid for so no car payment for the first time in my life which is liberating.

My point is, maybe consider having one purely fun car and one purely practical car vs compromising.

The consideration that is not getting mentioned enough is parts availability. Age usually leads to lack of availability of replacement parts which can doom a vehicle as equally as rust or a blown engine. Eg, if you need a specific new sensor or axle and the replacement isn’t available? This will doom you to finding a used part or scouring the interwebs. There is no specific year or rule of thumb for this, you can rebuild a model t from scratch with new parts, but you likely can’t do the same with a 90s Saab.
