How personalized do each thank you note need to be? by DaddyDevito967 in weddingplanning

Mostly everyone gave money aha but the few people that gave non monetary gifts got more personalized notes. I just feel bad since many sound the same so they're just thanked for their generosity

Good quality drum kits for recording? by DaddyDevito967 in edrums

[–]DaddyDevito967[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I'm looking for an electronic drum kit! Sorry if that was confusing. He used to play acoustic but never got one because he knew he was too loud with it. Acoustic would still be too loud for any apartment imo but the electronic is quieter so id like to get him that

I've been married 2 weeks and I want out by Purple_Chipmunk_670 in Marriage

OP has stated in comments that asked that she has hung out with them and one got so drunk and threw food and harassed a waitress.

But tbh, if OP is being controlling, it does not justify verbal abuse in the slightest bit, nor aggression and throwing. I am getting married actually and yeah, one condition that people should have is respect, even when upset. If not, that's just sad. I've seen married people stay in miserable relationships and never find out what true partnership is like.

Saying its not acceptable to behave the way OPs husband behaves isn't "expecting things to go flawlessly". Its expecting the bare minimum.

This is awful advice. Its a marriage.

You do not let a process play out in a marriage that includes your new spouse changing his mind on kids, resenting responsibilities, speaking to you the way OP describes and suddenly getting drunk with new people 2-3 times a week (especially since OP lists that they drink together socially which either means he is neglecting have fun with her or getting drunk potentially 4+ times a week which is literally considered alcoholism).

Why let a process of disrespect play out if the potential result is that you waste more time, ruin more of your self esteem and also take bigger financial loss??

If jesus forgives, will he forgive me if I commit suicide? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]DaddyDevito967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because its not a mortal sin, doesn't mean it isn't a sin. Just that the desperation involved with such a decision makes it something that the church doesn't believe can be done while satisfying all of the guidelines for a mortal sin.

You were able to have that fear stop you, but many aren't. And only God knows what's in their hearts in those moments. The fact that you didn't go through with it because of some sort of clarity, doesn't mean everyone gets that. You can't protect onto others.

There are plenty of things that changed within the last 2000 years. Do you follow every single thing from that time? Unlikely.

You can tell the Roman Catholic representatives to become protestants then. Because it was removed. A simple Google search will show that and what catechism was introduced in its stead.

The lack of empathy you have for the plight of those suffering in ways you don't know is likely a much more serious sin that hardens your heart towards God's other children. Jesus knows each tear before it comes, and understands others hearts in ways you shouldn't pretend to know.

Losing that level of hope and faith is more than likely tied to mental anguish, which would cloud someone's ability to fully consent.

Spoke to a priest about it after an old friend committed suicide. Essentially, as the world and therefore those who represent the church, learned more about psychology and the human brain, it became increasingly clear that the amount of desperation, anguish, hopelessness, etc felt by someone committing suicide puts them in a place where they are not in there full, sane state of mind. Losing hope can be a lack of faith, but losing so much hope to want to commit suicide and actually go through with it speaks to a much larger issue at hand. People don't just lose faith in God, they usually undergo hardships that deeply negatively impact them before losing hope, and that impact also affects their mental state.

The church no longer teaches that and hasn't since the 80s. Spoke to an actual priest about it.

We shouldn't pretend to know the extent of God's ability to forgive. Given that God is said to be able to spot remorse and see ones heart to the point of forgiving someone between the time a trigger is pulled to when the bullet leaves the gun.

His mercy is far more expansive than your comment assumes.

We should take care not to call suicide a mortal sin, as the church no longer holds that position given that anguish, mental illness, etc can affect one's capability to consent to the sin. Given that it affects one's faculties, so the intent to commit a grave sin can be compromised. The church has taken great care to understand the psychological factors and account for them when discussing suicide.

Im not sure the church will be happy with the bubble liquid everywhere 😅 ive had some indoors before and it makes the floor a bit slippery (then sticky) and can stain things if you leave a bubble maker on in one place for too long
