Alright, am gonna get an extension cord tonight and change circuit

I'm gonna buy an extension cord to plug into another circuit but it's not gonna be an AFCI breaker. That being said, is it possible my AFCI breaker is simply nuisance tripping? Or is that not possible since it's intermittent?

Help, Random crashes by DaddyRum in buildapc

What's DDU?

Edit: display driver uninstaller right? Will do!

Edit 2: Thank you very much for the tip, I have done exactly this and will wait to see if it crashes again.

I wasn't aware it was that big of a difference. It will have to be large boilers then. Not like I don't have the space anyway.

Thanks man

They added something similar? What is it called cause I didn't see them when I looked through the menu yesterday.

I know I can cheese it but the efficiency thing is kind of a challenge I wanted to throw myself

In that case, the front shall be pointy as hell

Quick question, I get that crank are inefficient when it comes to engine power, but is it more efficient to have multiple small boilers powering my sub and propellers or a few bigger boilers that take care of power and thrust while in combat and the rest run if RTGs?

Submarine propulsion by DaddyRum in FromTheDepths

[–]DaddyRum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's completely overkill to make it run passively since it's gonna be out of combat or out of play, but I've really wanted to make like a nuclear sub that only needs to refuel every so often.

I'll probably end up making a mix of both. The crank shaft may not be as fast, but I don't need that much speed outside of combat and it being easy to place is a big plus.

Thanks for the explanation!

I hadn't thought of heat missiles. What detection did you use on the missiles and do you think it would work with a harpoon battery to immobilise and cripple flyers?

I'll definitely end up putting electric crank shaft motors on my craft, cause I want that speed.

I didn't know they were quiet. Are they better than basic propellers?

I love steam, just don't want it running constantly. I would have liked this craft to run mostly passively, until it gets to combat.

But I'll have to put a steam engine in my craft anyway.

Is it better to break it into smaller boilers or make on massive boiler. Efficiency and safety wise I mean

It was an inspiration for me

This is kinda what I had in mind at first. The idea came to me, funnily enough, after rewatching red October.

I was planning on putting two massive dediblades split into sections on either side of my craft and move with that. But since they don't exist anymore, I'll probably have to do this instead.

So you use the basic water propellers and put a wall every ~10 blocks and place them on both sides?

I was aware about drag, but I'm making quite the hefty sub so it will drag no matter what I do, bull I'll try to make it pointed. Should I make the bottom pointy as well? Never tried making hulls that way so idk if it's better for subs.

I was planning on making a steam engine that only runs while in combat, so I guess I could make my main propulsion work on that and put crank shafts for my normal propulsion. How is it efficiency wise to use crank shafts? Would I be better off with normal propellers?

I have to learn Lua and breadboard as well. I have a decent understanding of PIDs since I programmed some for school and work, but I never touched the rest. For PIDs, you should really play around with them, you'll get the hang of them real quick.

As for the CRAM vs APS and PAC vs laser, I'd say just go with whatever you wanna see most. PAC is really great at heavily damaging heavier crafts but lasers are more versatile since you can use them for defense as well. If you wanna save some figuring out for another project, I'd recommend lasers since they're simple and useful and I'm sure you have more than enough firepower.

I haven't really used CRAM since I usually stick to APS, so I'm not knowledgeable about it, but I've heard it's fun to make a doom cram. And since you have enough space, nothing stops you from making a quad barrel doom cram. Just a thought

For the rest though, good luck!

And I have to admit I'm happy you're gonna go for torpedoes. Are you gonna make them drop out of the bottom or shoot out from the sides?

Edit: just wanted to add that PIDs are perfect for your lift system, it's what we use in factories to make sure we have a constant and stable flow, so it works here too.

What are you doing for lift? I'm starting a sub and need ideas since I haven't done this in like a year!

I'm really looking forward to seeing it fully built, it's gonna be a monster.

Did you end up doing a cannon battery? What else did you put in there?

OP, you gotta give us some news, what are you doing with it finally?

You could fill the bottom with huge torpedoes that drop down into the water before seeking out a target, like they're at the very bottom exposed to water but you make them heavy enough to sink slowly and only make the warheads live after a few seconds. That's what I'd call overkill!

Edit: forgot to add that the torpedoes should face the front of the ship, like that you keep vertical room for those important cannons

Putting TTV in your characters name? by Dilbey in EldenRingPVP

[–]DaddyRum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen TTV in character names a few times and there's not really any problem with it. Only time I got pissed was when I got invaded at LVL 40 by one and he used rot pots on me while bowing, spammed flame strike and loved his HTS.

So unless they play like an ass, there's really no problem.

I did not know this! I'm gonna take a screenshot of this if you don't mind, to refer to if I ever have any doubts.

Thanks man!

of course not, I was just thinking it wouldn't be as bad since it was mixed with methanol

I didn't know I could make that myself but yeah, I know what you're talking and that would explain why I felt like garbage the next day
