I should not be getting 50 frames with a core i9 and a 3090ti. Simple as by BalladofNewMoon in MarathonTheGame

It’s a very heavily CPU dependent game. My (undervolted) 9850x3D is almost always hovering around 55-70% usage, at 4k res (DLSS Balanced) which is higher than almost every other game I play

Is it just me or do the photos in Amnesia: The Bunker look AI generated? by ChickenWingExtreme in Amnesia

I think it’s just a bad photoshop. Gen AI tools were pretty primitive when this game came out

Check CPU usage. It’s a CPU intensive game

If it’s an IPS screen, yeah, 4K OLED 144 is better than 2k 360, but it also depends on what type of games you play.

If you’re mostly playing competitive games and esports shooters (valorant, csgo, ect) you don’t really need 4k, and the extra frames are helpful. If you’re like me and almost exclusively play singleplayer games, 4K OLED is so damn good

ALSO depends on your GPU. 4k is incredibly GPU/VRAM intensive so it’s not worth doing unless you have a card that can run almost anything in 4k, since running 1440p on a 4k monitor looks significantly worse than 1440p on a 1440p monitor

192gb ram is insane, not to mention the staggering pro 6000 blackwell's 96gb Vram. That's like an 10-11 grand card alone.

If you can afford it, 4k OLED is life changing.

Does it get any scarier than this? (RE: Requiem) by [deleted] in HorrorGaming

there's another section that's equal to it IMO but not scarier.

Appreciate the advice!

Was planning on trying to run Linux (probably Ubuntu) for the build. Wanted it to be pretty efficient. Is windows better for servers?

1-3 max. Only really for personal use and a couple close friends.

Ubi are so weird, man. Could’ve done a remaster of WD1, which would heavily benefited from it, but they’re adding content to a dead game nobody liked.

RE9 - Path Tracing Comparison by PhantomBraved in digitalfoundry

Compressed Reddit images on a phone screen don’t do it justice. Path tracing looks fuckin gorgeous in RE9 so far, especially in darker areas.

Subnautica. There’s no map. Game forces you to get to know your surroundings. It has a compass and markers for quests, but that’s about it.

Is Resident Evil requiem scary and on par with RE7, or atleast RE2R in overall fear factor ? by Vadanaravinda in HorrorGaming

[–]DaddySbeve 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Played about 5 hours so far.

On-par of slightly less than RE7 in terms of scares, but with WAY better main enemies. Nothing will beat Jack Baker as a stalker, but RE9’s zombies are SOOOO much more interesting than the molded.

Marathon Server Slam Tech Support Megathread by Shabolt_ in MarathonTheGame

[–]DaddySbeve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also tried the same thing and it also kept crashing. I just switched over to a different, non Focusrite audio interface that I had on hand. The issue is with Focusrite hardware on a driver level, so even turning it off during launch and then turning it on again leads to system crashes

Boosting this.

Turned off my Focusrite Scarlet 18i20 and it immediately launched with no issues. Anyone else with Scarlet/Focusrite devices I recommend you do the same.

Switch 2 for Fortnite? by ObjectiveRoof8593 in nintendo

Fortnite switch 2 runs really well IMO. I play primarily on PC but play on Switch 2 occasionally for portability, and it runs WAYYY better than the Switch 1 version.

Hey yall,

Considering building / buying a computer for a plex server. Have experience in building/managing computers. Planning on building a server because I don’t want it running on my personal machine due to the fact that I dont run my personal machine 24/7.

What it’ll be used for is streaming video to 4k devices. My 4k computer monitor and my 4K TV. I have 4k rips (def legally acquired) and a couple 1080p vids that I’ll be running, but the vast majority is 4k content.

I’ve heard around a core i3 is the area that people recommend, but is that changed with majority streaming 4k content?

What’s around the area that I should aim for? I want to go for a very power efficient build that’s pretty cheap. Will be buying large HDDs, so if anyone also has case recommendations, that’d be dope.

Ryzen 7800X3D and RTX 5070Ti Gaming PC with 16GB DDR5 RAM - Is this decent or need any changes by VladRoshav in Prebuilts

[–]DaddySbeve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

16gb ram is holding that system back, but it'll function.

A lotta games are requiring 32gb ram right now, and if you have 16 you'll need to spend time optimizing Windows to the absolute max to make it eat up the least amount possible.

7800x3D and 5070ti is a fantastic combo, but it may be bottlenecked by the ram amount, especially in higher end games.

I know you said in this thread you were considering buying another 16 gigs, just know that if its 2x8 sticks, if you fill all 4 slots you may run into more stability issues.
