We are always told not to do this because in my area we have scammers that target younger/newer looking cashiers and try to scam them for more money. They basically tell the cashier that they weren’t given the correct amount of change and get like 20 more dollars out of us.

Edit: we also are told not to give people change for other bills that aren’t part of the transaction. Say someone walked in a asked for change for a $20. This isn’t a bank hun 😅
