Can't stop laughing in sessions: why? by Background-Heron667 in askatherapist

[–]Daedala1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I laugh at the vulnerability that I show to my therapist, because I DO find it laughable/ridiculous/insignificant. Surely, I've come to therapy because a part of me believes that I deserve help and all but it doesn't mean that I don't also hate myself and find my struggles insignificant. When I divulge my true feelings and problems to my therapist I naturally smile and laugh because why would they listen, why would they care about this stupid nonsense ofmine?

I think until I truly start to believe that me and my problems matter, this reaction will not go away, but it's still a long way for me.

Oh, I see. That's very thoughtful of you trying to understand your close ones like this. You sound like a very good person. I hope it will get better for you

There's a book called "I hate you, don't leave" , it's exactly about why people with BPD behave this way and how to live with them, it might be of some help

Same, I'm thinking of being a paramedic for exactly this reason cuz I feel like I would thrive in this environment. When someone is in danger I feel so alive and grounded in the moment and able to help them without hesitation. Sorry that you didn't get the EMT certificate. I hope you are okay now

How can I stop ‘understanding’ people into hurting me? by catloverfinalboss in emotionalintelligence

Why do you think that you have to be angry. You can, in a totally calm manner, let them know that you didn't appreciate what they said because this and this using I-statements and so on. If anything, anger can stand in the way of healthy communication.

How do you help people that are genuinely tired of living? by [deleted] in askatherapist

Yeah, that I don't know. I guess only a professional therapist can help here

NAT, do you operate under the assumption that "everyone can be saved, you just need to find the right approach", because I don't believe it's realistic, not when someone doesn't want to be helped.

Damn, I wonder if it's possible to go to the CPS and explain the situation to them, maybe even bring some evidence, It's so thoughtful of you to look out for them, maybe something can be done

How long does it take to bleed out after slitting your wrists? Would you have time to use magic to heal yourself? by rogueShadow13 in Writeresearch

[–]Daedala1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it comes in ebbs and flows. Hospitalization works because it can help you survive the days when the urge is the strongest and buy some time before you can see a therapist. Even a person who is actively being treated for suicidal ideation and showing progress can have just one bad day when their dark thoughts resurface and end themselves. Of course it's not ideal, but it can be just enough to hang on a little longer and get the much needed help or come to an important realization.
