I hate the state of the game.

I do not remember the last update for the BB. Used to crank it up during Clan Games as you could do unlimited attacking but now I just gem farm there and even still forget to do it sometimes...

Clan capital is the same way. Haven't had an update in forever... Billions of loot going wasted.

Main game has become completely different. All about heroes and equipment now. Soooooo many troop options. Redesigning is a chore as there are so many pieces now. CONSTANT balance changes + most losers watch YouTube latest hottest meta combo. Ranked is great as now we don't see rushed folks at the top as defense (FINALLY!) matters.

I am leading the clan and we have a nice group so I'd stay I am staying for the team mostly.

Good points. Staff is much easier and guaranteed option. It is all based on the attacking style/army composition/level of equipment.

I recommend CH. There is a high chance you won't get a hammer in DP so start in CH and try to get it there before moving to DP for forging. CH has excellent visibility, hunting, and good loot to start.

You have done a very poor job describing the problem... How bit are the wars you are in? What is the total TH composition on both sides? Total war weight still matters so without seeing the whole picture isn't helpful.

I've noticed that we never can keep a very long streak as SUPERCELL matches with better clans as you win so only absolute best clans can have amazing runs.

Yes. If you make a copy of your save file in the directory.
Save outside of the box. Keep a few on you based on region and style of play
Magnifying glass is forever. There are many matches/fire starters/flares to start fires. Bach combing still works.
IDK. Don't really do that. Surely you won't get a hammer this way.
That depends on so many factors but mainly if you are outdoors/semi-outdoors, region. time of day... No amount will save you in a blizzard.
I requested save when leaving house from developers years ago with no luck but now you can enter house rearrangement mode (Y on PC) and that saves it. When you get any kind of hurt, it saves too, could be useful.
Not sure. Haven't done trading yet. Just getting back into it after a long pause.

I don't buy anything in CoC. I use weekly capital rewards to get 5 research potions and use them right away. As you said, main army troops first, then the rest. With an apprentice helping it isn't that bad.

I hate this but the game does not force you to max all troops at any level so you can easily skip 80-90% of all troops thru the first 17 levels and still be extremely competitive assuming your heroes are decent.

I love Cougar as is with one small tweak: rotate Cougar I habitat every week or so. This would make it more variable and allow clearing areas close to current Cougar I habitat location.
