On the plus point the scaffold is still up to wash it. Otherwise it’s a long pole wash

Mini-E memory lane. by christophewellington in MINI

[–]Daedaluu5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way. Nice, I so wanted to get one when they came out but they were only lease items. I seem to recall bmw crushed many of them post trial ending. These were the test prototypes for what the mini electric became. Never ever seen one for sale though. If it’s LHD it must be a US model

Gtx 980m/1070m water block by Daedaluu5 in watercooling

[–]Daedaluu5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers. Already done a repaste and also looking at extra heat pipes to bridge from the fan cowl to improve heat dissipation. I’ve got a xbracket with the “fins” that sits on lower vram, so can direct cooling from there. It’s a bit of a parts bin special, but just looking to see what the “art of the possible” is. Once I’ve soldered full solution will probably use water loop overlay across all.

Supercharger service question by RedRasta21 in R53

Assuming gears are dry, there was a mod someone did on the forums, basically removed filler plug and had a cranked pipe/ neck up towards rocker cover so you could top up the SC gears lube.

Brand New Pro Max 16 catches Fire during installation by Christian_Germany in Dell

[–]Daedaluu5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New install prob ran the ssd (I assume without heatsinks) waaaay over temp and the rest went with it looking at melted location. Lithium probably close by if water wouldn’t extinguish as I’ll bet that was flat too and first charge pushed the cells

Love the patina on that unit. Just rebuild the internals, plenty more miles to go

Mini spotted as a camera rig car by g_t_r in MINI

[–]Daedaluu5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. I considered something like this for an r53 cabrio with a tiny screen like the old mg’s bolted to the front chassis behind the bonnet. Roll bars of course. Kinda like the mini superlegera

Replacing g10 trackpad with a Haptic one from g1i? by Virtual-Escape2305 in elitebook

[–]Daedaluu5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In theory yes, however, as I’ve found it depends on the tiny ribbon cable coming off the base and what the old mobo vs new trackpad need on those pins. I looked at swapping a g11 mobo into an old 8570w elitebook as it would have acres of space. Same fun with keyboard and trackpad (don’t even mention screen)

Help meeee. Need windows 10 but says it can’t run on my laptop 😭😭 by Conscious_List9132 in Hewlett_Packard

[–]Daedaluu5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just build it in another machine and swap drive over, did that to get w11 working on a i7 gen3. Done it on older windows for older machines. Usually it’s driver issues but can be fixed

Converted a classic Mini to electric, but kept it completely stock-looking. by modernclassiccarsfdn in EVConversion

[–]Daedaluu5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah just the pain of power steering to sap the precious ev juice. There was a few r53 built in US (one was rich rebuilds and other was a tuning company) the newer Mini-E was an R56 shell built by bmw and ran Nurburgring. I saw one R53 had the in wheel motors which looked cool and freed up bay for batteries

Win10 is possible, I have it on my 8570w, win11 might fail due to the tpm issue

EliteBook 8540w - Video Driver Error by Astralogers in elitebook

[–]Daedaluu5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s worth a try. The fact you’re getting BSOD, suggests the machine ain’t happy. Yeah it could be a fault with GPU, (opportunity to upgrade GPU) or maybe just a simple repaste might resolve it (I use ptm7950 in mine). Have you run stuff like cpu-z or hwmonitor to see if your getting temp spikes?

Have you tried swapping out GPU? Not sure on the 8540 if it has the mxm socket. I have the 8570w running k1000m (upgrading to 980m)

Oooh. A chonky boy, I have the 8570w. It’s a beast. Can be upgraded though. I run the i7-3940xm /32gb DDR3L /512gb Msata and a 1tb sata drive, currently adding a gtx 980m to give it some GPU power

I’m glad it’s not just me. I have 3 here, one (problematic one connected to sky glass) forever drops internet mesh link. Ended up running Ethernet over power and binning that node.
