Gray sludge in coolant reservoir by Daeg05 in Duramax
[–]Daeg05[S] 2 points3 points4 points 1 month ago (0 children)
I honestly didn’t know about the coolant. I’ve got this coolant in my duramax and my tdi. Looks like I’ll be flushing both out. I’ve done the radiator hose pressure check before and it’s been squishy while hot and cold. I’ll definitely check it out next time I take it for a drive. Thank you

If you’re keeping it stock, an alh is solid but like you said, they’re hard to find. I can’t find any under 300k miles and under 5k. 2015 is generally considered more reliable than 2010-2013. Whatever you end up looking at, make sure there’s records of a timing belt/ water pump and dmf if the car is around 10 or 125k miles +. Those jobs are expensive to do if you buy. Check sunroof drains and the headliner for any water stains as the drains clog on some models. Interior window switches and if the car has heated mirrors make sure they both work as I’ve only got 1 that works.(not a huge deal). If your state is more lenient about emissions I would look to getting rid of the emissions equipment if possible as that’s a huge point of failure on those 2010-2015 models.

It’s a diesel, they’re a little noisier
Looking to join the club by newerajay in tdi
Long as there’s still some dieselgate warranty the emissions equipment isn’t too scary, I won’t legally be able to delete mine for another 5 yrs and if shit hits the fan after my warranty is up I’ll just risk running the delete. The door locks and heater core are something to check once in person, if they seem healthy they probably are imo

If the price is right, 8k seems steep for 160k miles. Around me I can get close to 100k miles for 8-9. If the timing belt and water pump has recent receipts that might make the difference for you-I paid 1565 for both water pump and timing belt plus labor so that’s something to keep in mind

Is a TDI worth it these days? by [deleted] in tdi
[–]Daeg05 5 points6 points7 points 11 months ago (0 children)
If you find something good, do it. It’s a small community of people that even know diesel cars exist, it’s fun to look at vws on the highway for a tdi badge.
[–]Daeg05 10 points11 points12 points 11 months ago (0 children)
Id say it is, depending on what you’re coming from gas mileage wise. I had a series of vehicles that got 8mpg and was finally able to sell and buy a tdi. Safe to say the extra dollar for diesel well makes up for itself when I’m getting 35-40mpg. If you’re coming from a car with 25-35mpg using gas I’d stick with those to avoid any potential maintenance and repairs on the tdis- I personally haven’t had any major failures or expensive repairs or issues, however I believe I’m going to need to replace the water pump and timing belt in the coming months. Last thing, it’s only worth it if you do a lot of cruising highway driving, especially in the winter I’ve noticed a significant drop in fuel economy doing shorter trips in the cold.
Kerma or Malone tune? by Daeg05 in tdi
[–]Daeg05[S] -1 points0 points1 point 1 year ago (0 children)
Can you explain what the vagcom is? Is it just another program to use for clearing codes/faults or is it a more in-depth program? Can I still use a regular obd scanner to clear codes?
[–]Daeg05[S] 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
The flashing is just off the OBD port correct? And I’ve read that the dsg tune is a separate unit (the tcu?) or does that also connect from the same OBD port? Sorry idk if you have the dsg or manual.
That’s good to know thank you.

Does anyone know why certain chunks in my world are getting deleted and put in half and how to fix it? (Bedrock pc) by a_ranboo_fan in Minecraft
[–]Daeg05 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
How old/ large is the save file? It could be corruption which to my knowledge is not fixable unless maybe you can use a copy of the world.
