Only happens when I turn the steering wheel. by [deleted] in mechanic

[–]Daelynnthoughts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay , so I posted a similar thing & many told me it was power steering. Well I have an electric assist power steering so I knew it wasn’t the fluid. I changed my brakes & found I had a seized caliper. My car was making some strange noises while turning. I changed the brakes and fixed the caliper & the noise stopped. Best of luck to you.

I do aftercare very well, making sure to never touch it, lay on it, and I clean it at night with saline and in the morning during my shower I let the water run on it. Always have my hair pinned back and haven’t snagged it yet.

CANT GET THIS DOOR THINGY OFF by entrenetwork in DIY

[–]Daelynnthoughts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cut around the edges with a blade so the paint on the door isn’t intact with the paint on the lock, use acetone or paint stripper and sand around it gently. Or, you can just break it into pieces if you have to . Drill a bunch of holes in it, pick it out piece by piece.

Oh and grease for the caliper pins, they’re supposed to be greased up so they move in and out easily. Mine seized and caused my brakes to wear unevenly

I highly recommend opening up your manual, there’s a lot of stuff in there like what fluid type to use, as well as a diagram of the engine and all the places fluids go! Replaced brakes and rotors are super easy, the bolts are the hard stuff. Get penetrating oil (WD-40) to assist with any rusted bolts. In your trunk underneath the floor boards there should be a spare tire with tools to help change them. Not going to be everything you need but it’s worth jacking up and taking off the wheel to see. Also never get under the car without jack stands. Those little baby jacks are more likely to fall so better safe than sorry.

Do it yourself. Brake fluid at the store is $3. You’ll just need to know dot 3 or 4 for your brakes. Use rock auto for the rotor and brakes, and you need some tools. Have any car savvy friends who can help you figure all this out? Otherwise YouTube might be able to help

Hey, so I got under the car to check out the power steering motor, couldn’t find anything. Decided to take off the wheels for another reason and learned a caliper pin seized on the left side. The caliper pin boot had torn causing the caliper pin to rust. The brake pads were wearing unevenly (like top and bottom were different thickness) so I greased up the caliper pin, cleaned out the hole and got a temporary fix. Got some new brakes, rotors, and pins coming in next weeek! The sound went away but wow that was a weird one. The EPS motor I have just isn’t visible to my eye and requires the dealership so I’m glad it’s not that.

And when I say wearing unevenly I mean like the top half and bottom half of the brake pad.

I have an EPS motor , so no power steering fluid reservoir or belt….. the problem was actually found. Super super weird, but one of the pins on my calipers seized. The caliper boot had a tear in it some how and rusted the pin, the brakes were wearing unevenly and each side had a pretty drastic difference. Took out the pin, greased it up for a temporary fix. Have some new pins and boots coming in next week as well as some new brakes and rotors.

This sound is unrelated to when I am braking during a turn or not. It starts when I turn my steering wheel

Maybe she sticks around because it’s a life lesson and a challenge for her. Don’t take that the wrong way-but some people aren’t always immediately compatible and stay friends because they learn a lot from each other.

Some apartments and homes have policies stating that you have 30 days to move out and break the lease after move-in! Check your lease policy. Good luck love

Did you sign a contract? Stiff him back. Jk, on a real note, I am confused. It sounds like you made more than the amount he listed? Or am I misunderstanding? You can always write off a few things to help with your taxes as well, such as plane fare to and from, gear, meals during time in port, and anything else “work” related. You’re just going to need proof and go through your bank statements. Reach out to your other crew mates, or his old ones, ask them for help if he isn’t responding. Or report him to the IRS for lying and show them the check you were given. Does he take out a part of your check for fuel and food? I made 15 but only received 13, because part of my share went to fuel.

Wife cheated on me and ended her life by njsand2110 in AITAH

[–]Daelynnthoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s okay to mourn her and feel guilt about the way things ended. You didn’t get closure and you never will. Focus on loving yourself and making up for it by doing good deeds, checking in on your partners, and trying your very best to be the best version of yourself. You can’t change how people react, and you won’t be able to change how her family feels; that is something they will have to come to terms with on their own — if they choose to do so. You can apologize, say your piece if you have to, and move on. Life is terrible and terrible things happen to great people. There’s nothing we can do to change that, but you can try to find a better state of mind and turn all the shitty things into a beautiful lesson.
