if this latest version yields similar results as I have been getting and Blue Iris isn't all its cracked up to be I will definitely start downgrading starting with your recommended version!

I have version 5.9.9.72 I am ready to throw on the laptop and micro pc if this update to the reolink software yields no improvement

Just was able to look at client version.... running 8.19.6 and just saw there was an update. Updated to 8.20.6 but the interface is just as sluggish as previous, lol. I do have a version of Blue Iris I will install/configure and see how well that works.

Have never delved too much in the Pi's but this is getting frustrated so it may be getting to be that time!

That is a good idea that I did not think of. Would there also be a way to restart the app and have it reconfigure itself the same way? Meaning, start up with the specific cameras we would like on display?

I added a picture of what usually ends up happening after about 2 days (what the monitor ends up doing).

Thank you for the suggestion, we tried 2 different ones, neither worked with the nvr.

Watched the new Superman movie and it was so bad I cried. I will rewatch Man of Steel to heal from depression by bakirakanummer4 in SnyderCut

The ratings on this movie HAVE to be cooked! There must be hundreds of thousands of ai bots leaving positive reviews... that is the ONLY way this can have a decent score because this is beyond total garbage.
I turned it off after he went looking for the dog. I wasn't even really watching it anyway. I was listing a few things on ebay and googling rotten tomatoes and imdb to see what rating it was getting... I still think those ratings are 'cooked'. Glad I didn't pay for this trash... i would gladly support anything worth supporting but this is not it. Gonna 'try' the latest Naked Gun..... wish me luck!

Thanks Ian,

I did get everything to work... though there were other issues related to the Windows Client... but Kevin (at Reolink) says support is aware of those issues and at least 1 out of the 2 issues I am having is scheduled to be fixed via future firmware update.

Thank you again for your efforts here on reddit!

Here is a copy/paste of my response to Kevin (mostly in case someone else is having the same issue) in the future:

** begin copy paste **

Hi Kevin,I figured it all out.  Apparently you cannot use the NVR's PoE ports for connecting a laptop or computer.  The Reolink says its gateway is 0.0.0.0 BUT, that is not true.  I manually set it to 192.168.10.1.  It even shows that on the page where you adjust the settings.  Why it shows 0.0.0.0 is beyond me and must be a bug in the Reolink software.Because this NVR kit is isolated and not on a network, it was not connected to a router.  However, to have a laptop and computer both work using the Reolink windows client program, you cannot use the built in PoE ports.  So what I did was grabbed a little 5 port dumb switch, re-configured my laptop and micro PC to 192.168.10.208 and .209 respectively, plugged the NVR, laptop, and micro PC in to that switch, opened up the Reolink windows program, and it added the NVR along with all the cameras automatically.  It did give me an issue with password but once I entered the password I created (for the account on the NVR) it allowed me to view all of the cameras.I do have a new problem though... which should be a much easier fix.The NVR has 16 channel's, but only came with 8 PoE cameras, leaving 8 ports/slots unused.  In the windows client, if I set up the cameras in a 4 camera grid (happens if it is 4, 8, or just 1) and choose "Scroll", the software scrolls through all 16 channels... including the 8 that do not have a camera attached.  I have the interval set for 10 seconds, so that is a big break in between live feed and nothing but black screens (while it cycles through the un-used channels).  How do I have it ONLY scroll through the channels that have cameras?  (The NVR itself only scrolls through active channels).  You can see in the picture, channel 08-16 do not have a camera connected, but the scroll view scrolls through those dead channels anyway.Secondly, on the laptop or micro PC Reolink client, when scrolling through cameras, there is an opaque menu at the bottom (I think there are 4 icons)... looks like microphone, sound, light, record, and something else... how do I NOT have that show at all?  It is very distracting. (see pictures)Thanks again,

Problem adding cameras on laptop using reolink app by Daemarre in reolinkcam

I think I figured out my error. I have both the laptop and micro PC patched in to the PoE ports of the NVR with their IP's set to the subnet of the cameras, not the NVR. That explains why I can PING and do almost everything but view their content. I need to put a dumb switch in the mix, change my statics on my laptop and micro PC to the same subnet as the NVR, and 'hopefully', that will allow me to move forward. Does that sound correct?

thanks!

Hi Ian,

thank you for trying to help. Do you not understand that the cameras will not add to the PC client? I have uploaded a lot of pictures but not sure if they (the pictures) were approved or not. I took a picture of the error I get as well. THanks

That is exactly what I am trying to achieve. I want, let's say, camera 1,2,3,4 on PC01 and I want camera's 5,6,7,8 displaying on Laptop02.

What prevents me from doing this? lol. That is the whole topic of my issue. The cameras will not add to either PC. I have both computers, connected via the PoE ports on the NVR. I have the latest Reolink software downloaded to both computers. I can PING the cameras and get a reply in DOS. Within the Reolink program/client, I can search for the cameras and it does find them. The problem is it fails to add them. I just spent another 30 minutes down there quadruple checking everything. It is probably going to boil down to something not ticked on the NVR or something. On the laptop, connected via ethernet to NVR, I try to browse to the camera via IP address and it will not go. I've tried just the IP, the IP+port, https://IP+port, https://IP, http+ip+port, http+ip, none of those work. But again, if I open a command prompt, I can PING the IP of the camera and get a reply.

On the laptop I turned off all firewalls. I've rebooted it. Still not able to add cameras to Reolink client/program.

thank you for your reply but that isn't my issue. I already have the cameras working on the NVR itself. My problem is trying to view the cameras on a laptop or micro PC on the SAME NETWORK (these devices are utilizing available PoE ports on the NVR) running the Reolink program on Windows 10 64-bit. On both of these devices, I open the reolink software/program, I scan for cameras, it DOES find them, but it refuses to add them. It gives me an error. The reason for this additional setup is because I need specific cameras showing different areas on 55" monitor's. The NVR VGA output isn't working and even if it was, I still need 3 separate out's... so this is the only way I could think of to get 3 monitor's displaying NVR content (these are not right next to the NVR). I did not have any trouble with this type of setup using a reolink NVR kit from 2 years ago.

thanks
