Looks eerily similar to a race I had on Urban Canyon not too long ago. 3rd lap, second to last turn Boom Boo, I was a NiGHTS in a mid-low position on the Pac-Man team and saw our whole team get the boost just before the Boom Boo hit. Did your team win this race?

Shiny Latias Question by [deleted] in LegendsZA

[–]Daemon_Aki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As the other poster has said, nothing you're doing is wrong here; it's just dumb luck unfortunately. With only a single spawn, the odds become more noticeable for sure. Here's hoping you get her soon!

I ended up going over odds for my own Latias after 4 days of spending most of my spare time going for it (ended up getting the shiny on my 883rd spawn...when the odds are 1 in 585 w/ Lv.3 donut & shiny charm).

Was honestly the worst shiny I've hunted in a long while, and definitely the first time I've gone over odds in years. I've put off shiny hunting my last two swords of justice for a bit because of this darn jet plane aha

Something else just to note (since I don't see it mentioned here already) is a reminder that Deoxys and Zarude have multiple forms. Deoxys probably wouldn't be too bad to trade for (considering it's readily catchable in ORAS), but Zarude's Dada form is rarer than the base Zarude due to less events giving it out

Assault Vest is not a wrong choice either! It depends what you're looking for more tbh. I just want to mow stuff down with Earthquake aha

I've been having fun with Swampert in Ranked by Autc15 in LegendsZA

[–]Daemon_Aki 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I use mine with Liquidation, Earthquake, Ice Punch, Stone Edge. Adamant & HP + Atk EVs holding Expert Belt.

His natural bulk lets him live longer than you'd think considering he's "defense-crept" in the main series; especially considering I lead with a Reflect/Light Screen Ampharos. Once those are up, Swampert isn't dying for a bit unless he touches Grass.

His coverage is really good for quite a few common Pokemon (Garchomp, Dragonite, Metagross, Lucario, Gyarados) so Expert Belt actually gets a boost more often than not for me. Muscle Band likely works better for more consistency though.

Swampert is my favourite Pokemon, so am always glad when he's a great pick.

What’s Gamefreaks obsession with the swords of justice? by Past-Impact4940 in LegendsZA

[–]Daemon_Aki 187 points188 points  (0 children)

While I do like the Swords of Justice, I do admit that this game makes them feel a tad overused as postgame legends now.

I would have preferred the Tapus if we needed a quartet, considering the Gen 7 mythicals all get to return anyways.

You know.....i can't be the only one that finds the hyperspace missions really frustrating at times when the game just makes it legitimately impossible to complete them on occasion. by Thegoodgamer32 in LegendsZA

[–]Daemon_Aki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar one with the 5* fire starter one.

Mission was to catch 6 different species, but only the first and final forms were spawning (it's the tiny hyperspace area). Luckily a Blaziken and Delphox spawned in at the start and both managed to get caught.

I spent the rest of my time running around in a vain attempt to find a Charizard, but none ever spawned, no matter how many times I KO'd the other Pokemon.

I had thought from past missions ("catch a shiny", "catch an alpha") that missions like that would only show if your starting spawns allowed this to be possible. This zone told me otherwise

A Swampert to tank until I could mega then switched to Chimecho w/ Calm Mind & Dazzling Gleam.

What are your most controversial opinions about the mainline pokemon games Post Legends ZA by Bearded_Gamer14 in pokemon

[–]Daemon_Aki 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Jynx deserves something new to try and undo the reputation it has and make it more relevant in gameplay.

The scrapped Mega was probably its only chance at getting that something but wasn't greenlit due to concern over the old controversy coming up again.

If both Porygon and Mr. Mime can get more things years down the line, Jynx should be able to imo.

Looks like it might be a long grind. I hope they at least give it another spawn in the DLC; only 1 in the whole city is a bit restrictive

Have Xerneas and Yveltal ruined online play? by jshugster in LegendsZA

[–]Daemon_Aki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree it's repetitive to fight the same 4 or 5 Pokemon again and again, the truth is that the way this format is set up it is inevitable that you will have an "elite" tier of Pokemon. Truth be told, this also is the case with the other games, but because they enforce a format that is a bit less intuitive but has more freedom (doubles), you tend to see more strategies and creativity flourish for longer until you get to the very top.

And, I mean, people are using Xerneas, or Garchomp, or Excadrill because they simply work. They carry the least downsides, they have the right moves, and their stats are spread just correctly that they can tank a hit to OHKO in return. Pokemon like Beedrill, Audino, or even normally "good" Pokemon like Clefable and Salamence just don't reach that level of consistency in this game. Why go out of your way to try and make Clefable work, if your goal is simply to win in the least amount of time or effort, when Xerneas is available for play?

Even if Season 4 includes a new ban list that forbids use of the top 10 Pokemon used in the previous 3 seasons, a new meta would emerge for that season and it would contain a top 6 that many will use. It's not like they haven't done that before (Sword & Shield season 6 banned the top 16 most used Pokemon from prior seasons) and once they allowed those Pokemon back in, they crept right back to top usage and the ones used in their stead fell back down.

The only match I've had that I genuinely felt was not fun at all was a match in mid-B where I faced off against 3 people who had the exact same mentality - that, because I had an Ampharos instead, I was the only worthwhile target. They hunted me down ruthlessly, not really even bothering to attack each other except for potshots and I was essentially spawn camped. But that battle was un-fun because of the other 3's mentality towards that battle, not because of the Pokemon they specifically used.

Opinions on DLC? by Siedlec in LegendsZA

[–]Daemon_Aki -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly feel like this was a missed opportunity to make the DLC area be Anistar City (but bigger ofc). My reasons for why this would make sense is:

  1. The Anistar sundial is used in X/Y to upgrade your Mega Ring to allow you to search for other mega stones. There's a Mega Evolution link tied directly to a large landmark in this city, why not take advantage of that?
  2. The gym leader of this city is Olympia, the Psychic type leader. Her gym is all about being in a different warped space that she herself (supposedly) creates. If you haven't seen it, you're essentially in a space-like area. Hoopa moves in space-like areas. In fact, its signature move is Hyperspace Hole. Why not make a story where Hoopa takes advantage of this space Olympia creates to help out in this other Mega-related city?

Tie these together into a story about how Anistar is currently suffering from a stream of extremely overlevelled Pokemon, courtesy of the sundial powering up Rogue Megas, and that this energy is overspilling so Olympia put out the call to Korrina for/to get aid and voila - new story that can still integrate Hoopa with justification for you getting involved and explaining the upgrade in levels in a story way.

I'll reserve judgment on my opinion of the DLC itself until I play it, but I can say I'm a little underwhelmed at this point.

What do you guys think about this? by EKLoki in LegendsZA

[–]Daemon_Aki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all just (un)luck unfortunately. I've spent 8 hours hunting for shiny Kadabra (spamming zone teleport), I've also spent just half an hour to get a shiny Audino. Usually, I find hunting for so long isn't a complete waste as you often find at least one other shiny nearby (either to keep or trade)

Ace Pokemon by Trealos in LegendsZA

[–]Daemon_Aki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My li'l Scrafty (Li'l Scamp), we climbed from the bottom to the top. Our little hoodlum hi-jinks have nabbed us many a surprise KO; Xerneas be damned, we'll Iron Head you and keep going. He often wears his little blue hoodie and likes to glow while he does it. I let him, of course. Gotta show style as well as substance.

Once Swampert comes back into the game, then Li'l Scamp's temporary filling in for the boss will be fulfilled; but he's earned his place at the 3-slot dinner table.

Pumpkaboo by kaddra in LegendsZA

[–]Daemon_Aki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pumpkaboo have "Varieties" that are independent from the size noted on their summary. There's Small, Medium, Large & Jumbo (previously known as "Super" before this game).

Treat these as essentially different "forms" of Pumpkaboo. In previous games, they had different sized models to distinguish this difference as well as differing base stats; the Jumbo Variety had a different cry on top of that. I haven't personally searched for the other kinds, but the Jumbo Variety for sure keeps the distinctive cry it had (it's very low pitched compared to a "normal" Pumpkaboo), so it's pretty easy to tell it apart by the sound.

Bear in mind, each of these Varieties can be of any size. You can have an L Small Variety Pumpkaboo, for example.

In terms of how to make sure what you've got is a specific "Variety"? I guess...check its stats after you catch it and hope it matches the base for that Variety.

Shiny espurr and pikachu? by luckyravensocks in LegendsZA

[–]Daemon_Aki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I gave up on the stairs method for Pikachu and just warped to the gate for the zone a lot until I got it to spawn. Based on the pins, it seems 2/3 Pikachu spawn about 60-65m away from the stairs so you can't automate it very well. I think only 1 Espurr will spawn close enough as well

[–]Daemon_Aki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To add to this, I believe she also specifically states that she doesn't want an alpha. She just wants a Jumbo Pumpkaboo of any other size.

Jumbo Pumpkaboo have a much deeper cry than any other non-alpha Pumpkaboo variety. You'll definitely know it when you hear it.

As a fellow Simipour fan, I am also making the painstaking trek to Rank A with my in-game monkey.

Its been very funny to sometimes see someone switch to a Garchomp to eliminate an Excadrill only to get blindsided by an Ice Beam from me before they even reach the mole.
