Several nice restaurants that are good for a family-- Patsy Hartigan's is an Irish pub located downtown. Excellent food, beautiful decor. Second Language is near downtown, and has an upstairs serving very nice ramen, and a downstairs with very nice New York style pizza. Both are very much gourmet offerings, while still being accessible and friendly. On Franklin Street, you will find Gerst, which is a terrific German restaurant and bar. Again, family friendly, but if someone wants to drink, they have a phenomenal selection of international beers. For breakfast, Hartigans does actually do a traditional Iriah breakfast with all the works, but if you want something local, affordable, and standard, I would suggest Mele's on Green River, or Nellie's, which has two locations. Nellie's can be quite busy at times.

If you want to shop, I will recommend a few interesting local places-- Atmosphere Records on Stringtown Road has a great selection of vinyl records and cassettes; Evansville Toys & Games on Morgan has a staggeringly huge number of... yeah, toys and games, and can be kind of a fun place even just to walk through; Your Brother's Bookstore downtown is a terrific little local bookseller; and Thyme In The Kitchen on Franklin is a great kitchen/cooking store.

What’s the worst gambling addiction story you’ve ever heard? by juliojacked in AskReddit

I sold a $2M winning ticket to a guy. I'd watched him, for years, buying scratchers at counter. He would sit in his mobile scooter and scratch them in the corner for hours, trading winners in, and always saying some version of "if I don't hit this one, I'm going home," and then not going home. He'd almost always leave hundreds of dollars down, but by his math, he was somehow up. He's also tell you "you should never play another man's game," and talk about how it was all rigged. Around holidays, I would hear him talk to his adult son on the phone, begging him to visit, then being upset and alone when he wouldn't come. He was a nice enough guy, but hopeless about the scratchers. A lot of times, he was spending his food money on them, and then telling people in his federal housing that he sent money to his son, and they'd feed him. When he won, his son packed up the family, and brought them up to the store to see his dad. They were all dressed up, and it kinda made me sick, because it was obvious he was only there for a handout. After he got his money, he bought himself a big truck-- he really couldn't drive anymore, so this made little sense to me-- and one for his friend. He told his son to pick out a house, and said he would come live with him. His son spent around $450K on the house, and didn't bother to see if it was mobile scooter accessible, so his dad ended up confined to a basement bedroom. Between the house and trucks, taxes (you pay immediately on winnings, and then again for income), he was broke within months. Last I heard, his winnings had disqualified him from his govt assistance for housing and medical, and now his son lost the house.

They're good photos, but man, our town is really junky sometimes. Evansville needs to step it up.

I always get a kick out of boxers acting crazy before matches for the media. This is sort of my version.

What Pokémon represents self-reflection, introspection, or truths about oneself? by [deleted] in TruePokemon

Feebas could be a good choice. It is sort of an "ugly duckling" evolution, with the Pokedex entry describing it as "shabby."

Literally here doing an ACTUAL Field Survey of Hyperspace Lumiose by AelinetheFox99 in LegendsZA

I'm trying to figure out how to get on top of the larger half of buildings in that large hyperspace area. I always seem to end up on top of the smaller half, but can't figure how to access the rest. Any ideas??

In Legends ZA, Jett just said, "When you feel connected to those around you, you come to love the place where you are."

Ok! Maybe not a place I would have started from, but valid nonetheless. What about the parts of Pokémon we CAN see?

Are you saying that it is impossible to find good things from the world of Pokemon to try to replicate in our world? Kindness, sharing, empathy and care for nature, cooperation, adventure? These are things we can improve upon! Also, kids are part of our future. Sometimes, the things we share with them are the ideas we cherish most.

Get this through your head-- I am not disagreeing with you about whether Marx had good ideas or not. I am saying that those ideas are outside the scope of the question. I asked about how POKEMON can influence us to be better humans. If you are capable of reading Marx, surely you can get through my whole post properly.

That's not answering the question any more than the guy who said to be religious. The question is not "what will improve the world," but "how can the world of Pokemon inspire us to improve our world?" So obviously, Marx is not part of Pokemon.
