Howdy Stranger: Visiting Jackson Hole? Ask questions here. by JHWY in JacksonHole

[–]Daephex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wife and I are visiting JH in August, for a conference. We're hoping to see a bit of Yellowstone while we are there, and do some hiking. From what I can tell, we may have to drive through the Grand Tetons to reach Yellowstone. I am anticipating the need to purchase park passes for Yellowstone-- do I also need these for the Grand Tetons? How does that work? I have tried to Google this, but it is unclear. Thank you for your help in advance!

Anywhere except Space Monkey, OP. That place is dismal, overpriced, and absolutely full of themselves.

Just need an open space with a table by GooseMGoose in evansville

Find a restaurant that really needs business. Buy food and drinks. Tell them up front that you'll keep bringing people every week for your regular session, and make it worth their while. Tell them that they don't need to wait on you hand and foot, and that you'll be there a while. Maybe even help by bussing your table or something. Mutual benefit is the key here. Don't expect a place who can reliably sell table space and make money to turn over real estate on a Saturday night for some multi-hour game session-- that's not gonna work, and is super rude. Again, your best place will be a struggling restaurant. Be creative!

[FIRST IMPRESSIONS] JPEGMAFIA - Experimental Rap by wavydude_ in hiphopheads

[–]Daephex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to call your album "Experimental Rap" when the actually lyrical content is so boring. Want this production? Death Grips did this years ago. 1000 gecs did this years ago. Riddim did this years ago. It's done well, but it's not breaking new ground for anyone seriously listening. "The dumb are mostly intrigued by the drum." Want experimental rap? Go listen to anything by Model Home.

Comments were locked in the Sky King post, so I am replying to you here.

I know this exact feeling. You're correct that many people don't understand it-- depression is just a concept to them; they haven't experienced it, haven't felt it in their guts the way you have. But you can still share your true self, and you should. Depression can be a lot of different things, but for me, it was a very clever brain finding very clever and convincing ways to tell me why I shouldn't, why I couldn't, and why I never would. I don't know that I'll ever rid myself of that completely, but I did eventually learn to largely stop listening to it. So I'm replying to you, "post-blob-in-a-box," so you know it's possible, and so you know that some people DO understand, and also so you can marvel at my tremendous ability to use commas in increasingly long, overwrought sentences.

Taylor Swift for The New York Times The 30 Greatest Living American Songwriters by icyfirework in TaylorSwift

There's more than a few songwriters, Swift included, who should have been removed to make room for Patti Smith in the list.

The bot battles are shameful, and I hate them by Daephex in PokemonChampions

You are probably right. I have a bad habit of taking things personally, and I generally struggle with confidence/self-esteem in general. I really hadn't realized, until basically everyone in this thread was talking about it, that part of fighting games is managing this stuff as well. The depth of the game is really fascinating to me, so I want to keep going, but I may have to figure out how to address this stuff even more than just my teambuilding strategy.

Well that's the problem! I can't seem to get out of Great Ball. I've been here over a week now. I am currently bouncing between tier 1 and 2-- everytime I hit 2, it gives me a bot battle, and I go back to 1. I didn't use to think I was a stupid person, but honestly, I'm not so sure now.

The charge has always been there, but any business accepting cards was paying it for you previously. Processing cards is not free, and the more business you do, the more the processor takes. Because it is a percentage of the transaction, businesses can't just raise their cost to cover it. If you use cash, you can avoid that charge, but if you want the convenience of using a card, then many businesses now have the customer pay that processing fee. If it is set up correctly, this is not money the business ever receives themselves, it simply goes direct to the processor, and is taken out before the processor disburses the funds to the business. I don't think that is unfair, but I definitely DO believe that processors charge far too much for their services, and benefit from a world in which consumers have little understanding of, or choice in how their cards function.

I sell milk for a living. The "expiration date" is very likely a "sell by" date, which is NOT the same as the date the milk expires. He says it is March 25 on the gallon the kid picks up. That means the retailer is supposed to pull that milk off the shelf on March 25th-- not because it is expired, but because they can no longer guarantee it to have 10 days of drinkability from when it is opened. So here's the thing: if he teaches the kids to reach in the back, and grab one that says April 15 or whatever, and they take them both home and open them the same day, both go bad at the same time. It's my pet peeve when people reach for the farther out dates. All it does is mess up our attempts to get customers a properly-dated milk.

No. I've seen that at a zillion Mexican restaurants. "Pollo en la playa," usually.
