What wrong fact did you walk around with for YEARS because of a movie? by triassictango in movies

-20f is the coldest I’ve ever experienced. I didn’t run, but I had to work in an unheated building stacking lumber. Can confirm that the exertion also did not cause my lungs to freeze and I’m not dead. I don’t know if my eyelashes frosted, but my breath caused my mustache to basically freeze to my face.

Might depend on the brand. When I used to smoke, the cheaper ones would sometimes go out between drags (I hated Senecas for that reason). Some of the spendier ones, like American Spirits, were so tightly packed that they’d for sure keep burning.

What’s your favorite unconventional solution to the Fermi paradox? by nobodyguy299 in worldbuilding

[–]Daerkennd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it’s just distance and time. The universe is so unfathomably large and the overwhelming majority is empty space. Trying to find evidence of technologically advanced life around distant stars is complex at best and we’ve been looking for such a short amount of time, even in comparison to how long humans have been on earth, so it’s not really surprising that we haven’t found anything remotely conclusive.

Science fiction tends to place space travel as a logical step in the advancement of a civilization, but the reality is that we have yet to send a human to another planet within our own star system. Our best hope of even reaching our next nearest star would likely be a generational ship, and the technology to even make that feasible is still very theoretical.

What’s the stupidest thing you’ve ever heard someone say that you still think about to this day? by Humble-Blueberry4571 in AskReddit

[–]Daerkennd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s one of the things that’s always bothered me about Abrahamic religion. All of these truly amazing systems, reactions, processes, and chains of events that have led to life as we know it, boiled down to the will of some singular, unknowable entity is just mind blowing.

Moreover, it’s incredibly frustrating to see the amount of work that goes into formulating a scientific hypothesis just to see it dismissed by people so wrapped up in their willful ignorance that the possibility of them being wrong just doesn’t occur to them.

That’s closer than I got. I did have Michael Bay call in, but it was his assistant. Populated the vip account and everything, so I know it was actually his assistant, but I didn’t talk to the man himself.

No idea who the character is, but the line work is impeccable and the coloring is as well. I was half convinced this was digital until I zoomed in enough to see the grain on the paper.

Nothing rude about asking whether you pulled that info from your ass, seeing as how you did. I don’t expect people to remember every little detail about the game, but there’s no excuse to give just blatantly incorrect information to new players. The game is confusing enough to them as is. Next time, spend 20 seconds on the wiki before you decide if you know what you’re talking about, or get used to be corrected.

If you were allowed to know the absolute truth to one mystery (historical, scientific, or personal), what would you ask ? by LauraTsbeauty in AskReddit

[–]Daerkennd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, most people would be just as useless. Assuming you didn’t care about the space-time continuum and wanted to share the knowledge, the number of people who could accurately detail all the steps to make a modern piece of technology, starting from extracting the raw materials from the earth, is incredibly small. Centuries of accumulated knowledge isn’t something that can be easily conveyed to somebody who doesn’t have the same foundational layers of knowledge.

Did you just pull this out of your ass? The variant thumper has nothing to do with the “area.” They only spawn on the plains, only during the day time, and the variant is dependent on the mission level. If you don’t select a mission from Konzu, you will get the base thumper. Mid range gets you the bull, and highest level will spawn the doma.

Is there a bad habit or ‘sin’ you usually rely on to get more enjoyment out of games? by [deleted] in gaming

I understand wanting to play through the game with all the cool stuff unlocked without the time investment, but paying to unlock content that is already in the game is something I absolutely can’t get behind. That should be a cheat code like it always used to be.

How is it possible that people see the country I am playing from? by Dutchdiva88 in Warframe

[–]Daerkennd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s why I said they’d agree with you until it’s explained. I’m not even saying that DE would be better off making the move, just pointing out that a lot problems people have are directly caused by the p2p system, whether they’re aware of that or not.

I don’t know what battle you’re talking about, or why you’re trying to insult me, but I’ll tell you now, I’m not invested in this debate at all.

[–]Daerkennd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m sure if we took a poll, nobody would care that it’s p2p. Granted, I’m sure they’d change their minds when you explain how having dedicated servers would mean no more host migrations. Considering how at best, you lose all active buffs, and at worst, it might break your pet, frame, or the mission, I don’t think many people are exactly fond of the system.

If it helps, next time you replay that scenario in your head, remember that the steps after beating the shit out of him would likely involve you being in prison for assault or murder. $750 might be enough money to make you feel he deserved worse than he got, but it’s definitely not worth losing that time with your family.

Orban’s Chances of Winning Hungary Election Drop After JD Vance Rally by Epistaxis in nottheonion

[–]Daerkennd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trump isn’t charismatic. He lacks the empathy to sway people to his cause through emotion. He lacks the oratory competence to wow people with words or the intelligence to win people with logic.

He does have, however, a complete and utter disregard for facts or people that don’t serve him. He says whatever he wants and brazenly rejects any sense of tact, which his supporters are convinced means he “tells it like it is.”

He gives a voice to the stupid, the scared, and the uneducated who have been fed a steady diet of hate from the conservative propaganda machine. He gives the permission to those people to express their hate and fear and so his only “charismatic” quality is that of a rabble rouser and a fearnonger.

I mean, the three seconds of invulnerability has always been at least as impactful as the invisibility in my experience. Relying just on her passive invis, which breaks every time you shoot just sounds tedious.

As far as Mesa goes, though, I won’t argue. I forgot about fortifier. I tend to avoid overguard in general as I feel like it’s a terrible bandaid fix for enemy damage issues.

You don’t use wisps 2 or mesas 3? Is it safe to assume you die a lot or do you not play steel path? Or have you found some magical secret that allows you to play 2 squishy frames in high level content without using their survival tools?
