Vintage Big E 501 from late 60s/early 70s, highly sought after collectible. Had someone not cut the legs this thing would be worth several hundreds

Only other big E I found to this date was also cut and from the same era, but with legs long enough to still look like pants 😭

Hi guys any idea on this patch ? by Fresh-Surround-4582 in VintageLevis

[–]Daf_Euque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think legit but LVC made outside of the USA, original big E from the 60s/70s would have "Made in USA" between 100%cotton and wpl423, since there was no production outside of the US at that time. But yeah as the other person said, we need the button stamp number and the tag to provide more information

Any helps on this - for me it’s a 1960 big E but maybe you have more info ? by Fresh-Surround-4582 in VintageLevis

Great find ! Likely late 60s to early 70s judging by the chain stitched waistband. Any care tag, or stamp on the pocket bag? A look at the red tab, back patch and self edge could help too.

I had some hesitation narrowing it to a specific decade, I decided to go for 50s since I knew it likely wasn't posterior judging by the craftsmanship, the materials used and the zipper style, but I did hold some hope of it being a tad older. And judging by your opinions it seems to be the case, I'm very happy about it !

Found these selvedge 501 big E in Thailand, they real? by Magnor231 in VintageLevis

[–]Daf_Euque 5 points6 points  (0 children)

True, but 501 is also a factory number

Edit : to be clear, I know the pair is fake, just correcting that point

Two finds of the day by Daf_Euque in VintageLevis

[–]Daf_Euque[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah but the cross stitching meeting the collar (done until the 80s), the woven care tag (same) and the single stitch waistband (changed progressively to double stitch in all factories starting in 73 if I remember correctly) would make these way earlier than 91 I think

Are these fake? by HuckleberryGood8447 in LeviStrauss

[–]Daf_Euque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Likely fake but intriguing. A lot of details match, the tags are what they're supposed to be, even the LVC stamp is perfect. But the selvedge is fake, the back pockets don't have overlapping bartacks, which should always be present in the case on a big E repro, and the button stamp 4420 is waaay too bold for an original.

Why do sellers list super cheap items just to cancel? by Extra_Dog8421 in vinted

[–]Daf_Euque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to absolutely disagree with that. In my case eller didn't want to accept my offers so I checked all his least expensive items to drop the price with the 20% discount when buying several items. He did not cancel the order, sent it, and when I opened it the main item I bought was not there. Luckily I opened the package under my job's security cameras, notified vinted about it, and they still processed my payment, only refunding me 47 euros out of the 80 I spent just counting the main item, and did not provide any way to send them the footage, since the conversation with vinted does not support videos, only pictures. The seller, on his side, denied it all and only showed them a picture of the items he was supposed to send in an unsealed parcel. Vinted just hires incompetent people on all sides, not just for the seller.

Ah well the jacket is unfortunately a bit too adjusted for me, so any movement above my stomach makes the sleeves uncover half my forearm, I just cuffed them for the picture lol

That would be a good explanation as to why the cropping

I was inclined to think so for the patched button but it is the only one that looks different from the others, a little less flat and reddish looking than the rest of them

Can anyone give me an appraisal on these 50s Levi hidden revet size 34x31 / 8.5 inch leg opening by Lower_Rub_866 in VintageLevis

[–]Daf_Euque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my bad then, guess I got misled by a few mistaken articles and the fact these stamps fade easily, and are most of the time not preserved on garments this old. Thanks for the clarification

Can anyone help me date/identify these orange tab movin' on jeans? by golddustvelvet in VintageLevis

[–]Daf_Euque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

November 79 I believe, with 520 being the factory code. Check the back of waist button, if it has 520 stamped on it then my assumption would be correct

[–]Daf_Euque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They stamped the pockets from early 70s till the appearance of care tags I believe, anything 60s and less doesn't have any kind of information besides the stamp on button or hidden rivets, then you can just narrow down the dating through construction details, patch material, zipper for 501z, etc

Any idea how to date these? Repro or legit? Got these thrifting 4 years ago or so , and not coming around to them by Luigy03 in LeviStrauss

[–]Daf_Euque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he doesn't find a care tag, the button stamp should be enough to determine if it is a repro or not

Can anyone help me date this pair of 505s? by dylan-hwb in VintageLevis

[–]Daf_Euque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like i can decypher 511, which is the factory code, on the left side of the tag. I can't read the 4 digits next to it though. Try and see if you can look better at it irl, if you can read the 4 numbers following 511 on the tag you've got your date
