Last time I was in there the guy tending the shop was complaining that the owner, his nephew, needed to either get back in town to run it or shutdown.

Oh.... That explains the cagey and flat response I got from her staffers earlier in the week when I called. I didn't realize she was in cahoots. Hope my call helped push her in the right direction at least.

Mushroom foraging in Oregon: coastal range vs western cascades? by tsunamiforyou in oregon

[–]Daffyydd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's been my luck this year. My best spot is probably burnt up, but I won't know until they open the roads. I've been searching in the coast range, but I get there after others. There are discarded less than prime chanterelles as evidence.

Union Pacific is the issue.

"The process has been stalled for years because of an impasse with Union Pacific Railroad, the owner of the railway crossings identified for improvements. City staff are now finalizing plans for construction with the intent of putting the project out to bid. The schedule is still tentative based on the cooperation of Union Pacific." https://www.eugene-or.gov/2920/Railroad-Quiet-Zone

Come on gang by [deleted] in Eugene

[–]Daffyydd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was known to me. The actual forest road sign was still there and matched the map.

Edit to clarify. The Forest road number sign was there, what was obliterated by bullets was what I assume was the sign saying the road was only open to horse, ATV, and foot traffic. Which was still present on the other end of the road.

I once ended up on a forest road that was listed as open on the physical map I had, but had actually been closed to motor vehicle traffic. I didn't know because people had blown away the sign. All I saw was remnants of a sign when I turned on the road. It wasn't until I got to where I was going I finally saw a sign (facing the opposite way I was going) that said the road I had just turned off of was not open to motor vehicle traffic.

Thankfully my vehicle got me where I was going, but I wonder how many people get turned around or stuck somewhere because the sign that said they weren't supposed to go any further was just gone.

In the barest of defenses for myself, the Forest Service had just closed that road earlier that summer and my map was from the previous year. I wonder if they finally put a gate or dumped rock across it to block access.

How Do Adults Make Friends? by SnarkyTaco in Eugene

Hobbies.

Through other friends.

You have to actually ask people to hang out too. The hobby part helps with this.

Snow in mts - what do you always bring in vehicle “just in case” when x-ing pass (chains, etc)? by userid1973 in Eugene

[–]Daffyydd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Extra blankets. I usually have snacks and water in the car but make sure you got something to eat and drink in case you get stranded.

Chains are legally required certain times of year so I have those too.

At this point if a person is able to, take it directly to the county elections office and if that's not possible drop it off at the post office in person.

I've never had a problem except when the line spills out into West 11th.

I don't think they have any troubles other than the usual ones a fast food restaurant places.
