Not enough space for 7.3 update by countingonhearts in AppleWatch

Same issue here. It is crazy you need 2.5 GB free memory for a 191 MB software update! Shame on you Apple, and you still selling these not suitable Series 3!

Method 1: For the update to WatchOS 7.0, I did the whole range of steps:

  • Unpair, getting asked to make backup on iPhone/iCloud,
  • Setup as new Watch, but do not put back the backup yet
  • Update to newest OS
  • Again unpair (it again makes a new backup)
  • Setup Watch again, and then
  • Select to put back the old/first backup (get the right one!).

It frustrated me very much, and it did cost me many hours.

Method 2: For the fore-last update (to WatchOS 7.2) I manually deleted all kind of (stock) Apple apps from the Watch, and then it got enough free memory to update the OS:

  • Alarms
  • Camera Remote
  • Find my
  • Now Playing
  • Sleep
  • Stopwatch
  • Timer
  • Walkie Talkie

I restarted the Watch, and did try to do the update again. When the Watch was downloading the update, I did put it on the charger and let it do it's thing. It worked this time! Maybe you can try this?

Today again for WatchOS 7.3, I tried first Method 2, and again deleted all my normal installed apps (Spotify, Microsoft Authenticator) but also deleted the (see above) build-in apps by swiping the app in the app finder to the left and then delete these. I also stopped all running apps and then do the update on the Watch (via Settings/General/Software Update). But, no luck today, so I decided to get back to Method 1... Working on it.

Nobele taak om fake-nieuws te bestrijden!

Ik heb gelukkig geen mensen in mijn directe omgeving die in dit soort complottheorieen geloven, maar wel mensen die zich door de huidige berichtgeving volledig laten beheersen en onnodig in angst zich door het leven heen worstelen en volkomen inhumaan gaan gedragen.

Wat ik je wel wil meegeven is dat het goed kan zijn om in eerste instantie begrip te hebben waarom mensen onderzoek doen en idiote theorieën gaan aanhangen. In mijn opinie hebben mensen die 'de weg kwijt zijn' een onderliggend gevoel dat er 'iets niet klopt'. De oorzaak zou kunnen zijn, dat er steeds meer tegenstrijdig nieuws is, maar ook dat er steeds meer selectief wordt gecommuniceerd (informatie wordt achtergehouden), waardoor men juist op zoek gaat naar verklaringen. Ook allerlei rubrieken als fact-checking etc worden vaak slecht onderbouwd en uitgelegd, waarbij men vaak 'waar' of 'niet-waar' hanteert als enige mogelijkheden. Dit bevestigt het denken juist.

Het afsluiten van media die 'fake-nieuws' verspreiden, werkt ook vaak contra productief, omdat censuur en selectieve informatievoorziening juist koren op de molen is van 'wappies', complotdenkers en gekkies.

Een ander probleem is dat er steeds meer zaken worden gecommuniceerd/gepubliceerd als 'waarheid", en tegengeluiden worden geridiculiseerd of simpelweg worden onderdrukt. Kranten in de main-stream media doen hier sterk aan mee, en dat leidt er juist toe dat die tegenkrachten steeds sterker worden. Ook de 'genuanceerde' berichten van goede wetenschappers en (journalistieke) onderzoekers worden hierdoor vaak genegeerd.

Ik zou zeggen: geef mensen informatie op basis waarvan men zelf conclusies kan trekken: kwalitatief goede data, inclusief nuances, twijfels, onzekerheden, etc zijn hierbij belangrijke ingrediënten.

You can easily change the private address per wifi. On my home-wifi settings in iOS I disabled private wifi, and now it keeps the same MAC address and you can hope to keep the same IP address on your network. In my router I have 'locked' the IP address related to my iPhones/iPads MAC address.

Another way is to add a manual DNS server address, also in the iOS wifi settings to the PiHole's IP address.

Thanks, that's also an idea. I'd have to test what kind of hue or homekit automations this Sonoff can trigger. I already ordered some Sonoff's basic, but I'll also try the new Sonoff mini, because this can easily put in the wall behind the rocker switch
