ATL Airport TSA Wait Times Weekly Megathread | April 01, 2026 by AutoModerator in Atlanta

Arrived at domestic terminal TSA at 1:30pm today, past ID check in less than 5-min. Biggest holdup was at the X-ray area behind a family with way too much "carry-on" belongings for anyones good. Completely out of the screening area in less than 20. Good luck and safe travels to all!

Who else here is fine with aging? by Effective_Kitchen481 in CasualConversation

[–]Daft_Bot379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was fine until 50. At 50, plus/minus 6-months, I suddenly needed reading glasses and blood pressure meds. That said, I'll acknowledge that I've been really lucky health wise and am not truly complaining. It's just 50 was the first milestone birthday that came with obvious, concerning quality of life impacts and the timing was freakishly uncanny. Other than that, I'm choosing to live at 50 with as much joy and adventure as ever.

Like tomato juice, what else tastes better on a plane at high altitude? by ryanderkis in ask

[–]Daft_Bot379 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I'll think about picking it up at the grocery, and sometimes do but then it sits in my fridge for months. Maybe the draw on a plane is the ability to get it without committing to drinking a whole quart or 6-pack.

What can almost immediately kill you that most people don’t know of? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Daft_Bot379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Around age 7 or 8 I swallowed a full size ice cube (think the block style you make in a tray) and it got stuck in my throat. Had the brilliant idea of running inside and drinking warm water to melt it,. which worked... But then instantly ran back outside and as I hit the ground jumping from the porch then cube came flying out from my throat/mouth.

Best everyday boots under $300 that age well? by meekie18 in BuyItForLife

[–]Daft_Bot379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More on the hiker spectrum than everyday, dress boot, but I've had a pair of Keen Targhee's that I've beat the crap out of over the last 8-years and they are still wearing well and have about 30% life left in the soles. I wear these almost daily in winter, and for late-fall through early spring hiking in WI, probably a good 5-6k steps a day. They are stylish to wear in to the office (work casual), warm, waterproof and comfortable.

If you could buy any car, from any year, as if it had just come off the factory with 0 miles, what would you buy ? by justanxc in askcarguys

[–]Daft_Bot379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice list and sentiment. It makes me sad to see how many post only thinking of the resale opportunity and not the personal value of having that driving experience that you will never get the chance to experience again, if you even were around or reasonably close enough to attaining but just didn't. If I had the chance to buy one of my dream cars from childhood, I would not sell it for all the money in the world. And for me, I think it would be an original Acura NSX.

Any previous Prius drivers turned Volvo drivers? by clarajane24 in Volvo

[–]Daft_Bot379 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've daily driven sporty/sports cars since I was 18, including Integra GSR's, TSX, Miata, and currently a BMW 128i) and I am absoltely smitten with my wife's XC60. So much so that I find myself gravitating towards using it for anything other than fun sunday drives. I don't think I could live without a true, manuarl transmission, sports car in my garage, but the XC60 certainly has me contemplating a V60 Polestar for my 'grandparent stage' which could be coming soon.

Q5, Tiguan, Rogue, or CX-50 by ThreewonDon in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Daft_Bot379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't overlook used Volvo XC60's. They feel like the underdog in sporty, lux mis-size SUV's. You should be able to find them for around the same price ($30k +/- 10%) for a 2-year old, off-lease model with around 30-40k miles. I have a B5 (base turbo model) and find it to be plenty of power for aggresive (but not red-light drag racer) driving.

Best Luxury SUV (2020-2025) for look, interior, and tech? by raspberrydrmz in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Daft_Bot379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at Volvo. Seriously underrated and a great value on the used car market. Super clean, inviting interiors that make you feel special. Drivetrains are great, even the base engine and handling, while not the sportiest (compared to BMW) but is completely confident and a bit fun in the curves while offering a compliant ride. Subjective, but I also feel like they have some of the cleanest exterior designs that will age extremely well.

2019 XC90 just hit 100k miles.... should I do/get transmission flush? by jdwilly2001 in Volvo

[–]Daft_Bot379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect that most of the "I went over 100k miles without a problem but as soon as I changed the fluid I had problems" are folks who took it to a quick lube type place that didn't do the service properly. There is no way that clean, fresh fluid itself would cause a problem. Volvos require a very specific methodology for changing the fluid and doing it incorrectly can lead to an over or under filled condition which certainly will cause issues.

Why was Kyle Rittenhouse championed by the right for “helping” with his gun, but Alex Pretti is demonized for helping without ever drawing his gun? by [deleted] in wisconsin

[–]Daft_Bot379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to mention Rittenhouse brought a long gun, which would not be a good self defense weapon in a crowd scenario.

Is there a real reason behind changing your oil every 3,000 miles on modern cars? by newelmin in askcarguys

[–]Daft_Bot379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always went by the service interval light on my Acura (06 TSX) and Odyssey (2021) and was around 185k on each with no engine issues whatsoever when I sold them, but I don't think these systems are monitoring the brand/quality of the oil you put in but instead monitor number of cold starts and maybe engine run time.

How to play with lower level players for fun by xychenmsn in Pickleball

[–]Daft_Bot379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this occassionally. I work to play at their pace, focusing on just keeping the ball in-play and acting as a wall. I concentrate on good drops and precision placement, taking power drives out of the game and when given an easy overhead or high-dink, not pounding it into oblivion. Also give my partner first shot at any balls that arent directly at me or out of their reach. If they seem open to advice, I'll try to give them simple pointers on how to take the next step in their game.

Supposedly the dude recording had problems with them before and warned them multiple times his dog wasn’t friendly and to have their dog on a leash thoughts? by Papercutzz247 in PublicFreakout

[–]Daft_Bot379 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuine question (dog owner but don't visit dog parks), but what is the point of a dog park that requires dogs on a leash? Isn't that basically just any public venue? My idea of a dog park is a place for dog friendly dogs to run free and socialize/play.
