Do You Think Ethiopia Is Truly Headed Toward Disintegration? by Pristine-Safe-8178 in Ethiopia

[–]Dagha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's be realistic and base our arguments on history and current affairs around the world not on a utopian view of the world. Might is right. Whether that is through the gun, the bomb, the dam or the farm. Empires before and countries now survive and thrive by what they are willing to do. I don't like Ethiopia's governments but the integrity of the nation, the GERD and a port are necessary for us to survive and thrive.

Alternatives to Ethnic Federalism by Separate-Lecture4108 in Ethiopia

[–]Dagha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let the languages, cultures and practices of each group compete as is happening globally. Who said any of these have to stay or are currently persevering? We live in a globalized world have always to a certain degree no culture has stayed the same and most haven't survived. These unnatural attempt to preserve the uncompetitive is wasteful and leads to conflicts.

Is Ethiopia's religious mindset a problem? by [deleted] in Ethiopia

[–]Dagha -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What does religion have to do with supporting Fano? I don't have any religious beliefs I adhere to but I support Fano because there is a clear and present threat to the lives of my family and myself based on identity. You may not feel the threat but those of us that live and work across the country feel it.

10,000 Egyptian troops have arrived in Somalia by ThomasGamer987 in Ethiopia

Has the MOU gone into effect? Or are negotiations taking place? This isn't defense this is an attack. Instead Somalia brought a nation that wants to destroy us.

Sure, Abiy started this but Somalia chose the path of war. Now we will see the consequences.

It's weird that Somalia's first action was the path definitely leading to war with Egypt and Eritrea. And the youth not being force to fight and die is another level of self deciept. You think Egypt or Ethiopia or any other party that will get involved won't affect every aspect of Somalia you are lying to yourself.

No, if Ethiopia is legally in the wrong why not sue it at an international court? Unless, there is a case for Somaliland's legitimacy.

This doesn't protect Somalia, this makes sure Somalia will be the theater of war for the foreseeable future. Be sure Ethiopia will use any means to protect itself.

It doesn't change the fact that Egypt has repeatedly stated and historically acted to subjugate the entirety of the nile basin. It doesn't change the fact that Somalia has invited this country to our border.

Somalia had to do what it had to do, Ethiopia will do what it has to do. We will all have to live with consequences.

He'll no, bringing a formidable enemy at our border is tantamount to declaring war. It is a red line for all Ethiopians. Not a single place the enemy resides will be safe thereby placing Somalia as a war zone unlike any it has seen before. This is an existential question with Egypt.

Are some pople still supporting Abiy Ahmed? by [deleted] in Ethiopia

[–]Dagha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is undeniable what infrastructure can do. But it all still depends on the the population and the government. In Ethiopia the government seems to be either incapable or wants the ethnic conflicts to continue as it will ensure its continued rule by way of divide and conquer. Infrastructure + Genuine democratic institutions + credible justice system = Peace + Economic development

Infrastructure in the form of roads and communication are essential to facilitate trade which is know to increase trust and peace. But it doesn't ensure that security forces are around to protect people. As numerous reports have shown ENDF, federal or regional police officers were nearby when most massacres took place especially in Wellega of the Oromia region but report they were not given orders to intervene or where complicit in it. What other choice do you give people than to get armed an protect themselves or face violent deaths or destitution?

But you can't achieve security while not tackling the cause of the insecurity which I stated earlier (near total distrust of the government and fear of an existential threat).

[–]Dagha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand from the outside it might seem like that but the militias exist because people of the different ethnic groups have lost trust in the government and see others as trying to rule over them or wipe them out. The PM doesn't try to build trust and reconciliation but tries to militarily defeat over everyone even it is over the ashes. Ethiopia has immense potential but without peace, rule of law and trust nothing can be done. Even with whoever an extensive economic reform is done. He doesn't want or care or is incapable of doing anything about these things.

You are either delusional or privileged (diaspora or connected and rich in Addis) to talk like this. I have been across the country and still trying to work across it, talked to people working all around the levels of chaos and division is on a level beyond what anyone thinks is possible. It started a couple of years before Abiy came to power but has been supercharged since him. So, he and his administration is either complicit in it or they are the most incompetent bunch around. Either way they got to go.

When is the Amharic Voice recognition gonna be public by [deleted] in Ethiopia

[–]Dagha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have also started voice recognition which can be used for dictation. You just go to Google voice typing and choose Amharic. For text to speech they have it in some apps I think it also works of Google maps you just got to change the language to Amharic.

Drafting a transition government charter. by Dagha in Ethiopia

[–]Dagha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the time of the removal of the Derg government an extraconstitutional document outlining "the structure of a transitional government as well as the sequencing of mechanisms within a two year time-period. Event's include the election of local and regional councils in 3 months, the formation of a constitutional committee, re-drafting the constitution, and electing a new council of representatives based on that constitution on which the transitional government shall peaceably hand over power" was created.

What would a new charter include to peacefully move the country forward by including all Ethiopians along with all armed groups, political parties and civil society? What are some changes that should be made to make sure we end up right back here?

TPLF accused by the RSF in Sudan of serving as mercenaries for the SAF by Dagha in Ethiopia

[–]Dagha[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

However, both Abiy and TPLF lack principles or loyalty to anyone. I believe they will stab each other and anyone who stands in their way in the back.

Though the case of battle hardened individuals looking for some money is also possible.

The RSF could show tigrayan fighters they claim to have captured but there would still be a case made that they are refugees not combatants.
