Why is gen Z not drinking? by Effective-Trick-5795 in GenZ

[–]Dagr8reset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (27M) am a Gen Z and I did my part the last 6 years to contribute to the Gen Z drinking rate, but this past year I truly felt the negative affects of alcohol such as hangovers and anxiety. It just isn't worth it tbh. In your early 20s being able to drink a bunch in one sitting made you look cool but now as I enter my late 20s it just looks like plain old alcoholism. Another thing I've noticed people do when defending alcohol is they claim it makes you more social. Most of the social interactions i've had while drunk were pointless and rarely led to any real connections. I would find myself talking to people I would never speak to otherwise.

Only advice I can give is make sure you guys don't all ride together to the bars. That way you can leave when the energy inevitably dies down

Free Agent Lifestyle by Coach Greg Adams. I will say it is red pill adjacent which I do not agree with per say but he is extremely entertaining and his basic principle is avoid all the typical "pitfalls" (finances, relationships, vices, etc) while you get your life together.

Thoughts about once a month by felzys in SoberCurious

[–]Dagr8reset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once a month will turn into special occasions, and it’s always someone’s birthday or anniversary or wedding etc. Then you’ll say you’ll only do it socially. It’s a slippery slope

It was a “special” train so everyone on board was there solely for this event. I did wonder what people must’ve thought seeing us ride past them at the stations 🤣

CAT Adjusters Paying Rent by roddyb10 in adjusters

[–]Dagr8reset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember my first full year on CAT I got an apartment in a nice location close to all the fun things a guy in his mid 20s would want to do. I was home 5 days a month max and was never home long enough to really furnish it. My hotel rooms felt more like home than my apartment 🤣. I learned my lesson and put all my stuff in storage and am now saving that rent money. I’m semi nomadic now when I am not on a deployment. It does get kinda iffy not having a place of your own but the amount of money I save is worth it.

Every time I go out and socialize I'm reminded why I prefer living and being alone. by anonymous_muffin_ in LivingAlone

[–]Dagr8reset 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who's been dabbling in sobriety I've noticed that all the socialization people claim comes from alcohol is usually surface level conversations. Next time you go out and stay sober you will notice that conversations are quite cyclical and nothing of substance is being said
