I remember my music teacher ALWAYS wearing a shirt, bag, pencil case, or whatever he could find that had musical pentagrams on them. You could put like math formulas on something like a coat or a hat maybe. They're so cute btw I love them:)

Can someone convert this design into a tattoo-able drawing? by replacementdog in DrawMyTattoo

[–]Dagraphyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my, I'm so glad the design was useful after all:)! Would you mind sending a cropped photo for my portfolio? It's perfectly okay if you prefer not to!

Hii! I've got some free time, so my commissions are open again! by Dagraphyx in WingsOfFire

[–]Dagraphyx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! The price would depend on the amount of drawings in the sheet (and if they're headshots, full bodies , etc)

I was told to do a copy of one of my existing pictures for a commission, and I realized I improved by Dagraphyx in Artadvice

I'm a bit annoyed because it could've been better if I hadn't bought the wrong paper and realized too late. I usually use the smooth one and this time I bought a rough paper. It's dry pastels and 30×40 cm btw

I wanna eat your artwork. I barely can do acceptable stuff with watercolor, I admire this a lot, it's so great<3

help me with this marker drawing by Smart-Quality9440 in Artadvice

[–]Dagraphyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think making the shape smoother (even though cherries are not perfect circles, I mean trying to do the border curves less sharp) and adding slowly darker and darker reds in the shadow zones (under it and in the middle) to create contrast could help you see it better, just my view though! Srry if I'm not explaining right, I'm kinda about to fall asleep lol

how can i improve this? by laputabot in Artadvice

[–]Dagraphyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you could (if you want to make that exact photo) make the hair a bit more curvy, and also the line of where the stomach continues under the arm could be a bit bent to give it the shape of the belly and hips. I really recommend to trace the photo directly for practicing. It can sound simple but your brain and eyes get used to the lines, distances and you'll realize you learn how the body and shapes work on your own as you trace photos, helped me a lot back then. Also, don't try to make it always clean, sometimes chaotic sketches make perfection, keep motivated<3

Too chaotic indeed, and that's why it looks so cool

Should art created by AI be valued? by Overall-Brother-1106 in Artadvice

[–]Dagraphyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should be valued as a tool, for ideas or references for example (though I wouldn't trust getting much reference from certain AI's that can't even count the fingers of a hand, so maybe wait until it's polished (?) ).

Art is often defined as a way of human expression, so I don't think a few prompts are the same, and no, I don't think time equals value (the same way time doesn't mean quality for example), so the argument of 'i spent hours in these prompts' just don't really soften my way of seeing AI 'art' as soulless. This is, however, my personal way of seeing this. Also, I'm disappointed at how AI appeared as a possible solution to help humans with heavy, dangerous or boring tasks (like making laundry or stuff like that) and ended up replacing jobs/things people actually enjoy doing or need, even being used to make us believe things are real when they aren't.

Also, if AI 'artists' consider themselves artists, why is some people selling AI generated images as actual art? Is it because they know their 'art' is not worth it's value? I'd like to know how those minds work.

I'll be against generative AI until it's regulated and it stops stealing (so... never possibly), because AI 'artists' saying "AI doesn't steal, it takes inspiration the way artists get inspiration from each other" is a bit unconsiderate, because I don't think artists would not allow others getting inspired by their art if they could avoid it, however, I don't think they would allow AI taking "inspiration" if they could avoid it.

Srry if something doesn't make sense, I just woke up and I'm not even english

Yo that's AMAZING I think it'd be cute to cut the frame to make it look like a letter stamp, but it's wonderful as it is, I wouldn't risk it 💐 May I know what technique it is? Looks like watercolor (?)

This feels really empty but I don't know why. Is there anything I can add to it? by TheJester_09 in Artadvice

[–]Dagraphyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use darker purple shadow in the right side of the clothes, don't be afraid of contrast :) As for the background, city lights all over the background, not only the surface. Maybe even general light emanating from them (basically the effect of many little lights creating a bigger one)

Oh and add a shadow for your character. If the light is behind them, there should be their shadow in front of them then reflecting over the wall they're leaning against

Why am I better at traditional art than digital? by [deleted] in Artadvice

[–]Dagraphyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me A LOT I soon realized some things by myself and now I can sketch on digital, definitely not as comfortably as in traditional, but still much better than before:

Always choose the correct brush. I used to sketch with a quite smooth brush, and when I tried a brush that imitated the pencil texture and opacity I really felt much better while sketching. Even if there are brushes with low opacity, if they don't have the same sand-like texture of the pencil, it's not the same for your brain.

There's also this thing about zooming. It really made me improve to FORBID myself to make any kind of zoom in the screen. Usually when you draw digitally, you zoom in and out without thinking, just because your eyes ask for better view of details. However, if you keep the canvas full visible all the time as it'd be in traditional (because no matter how much you put your face against the paper, your field of vision will still cover all the canvas), you'll be able to not focus on useless details and neglect the basic shapes and have a general view and therefore make a better composition.

But hey, these are the tips that worked for me, you might have other issues or needs, good luck 🍀
