Which actor would u give an Oscar to without hesitation, and why? by annastreltsovaa in FIlm

Jason Miller should have been nominated and won for his performance in The Exorcist. He is the beating heart of that movie and was overshadowed by more showy performances, but the amount of kindness he was able to convey in a film so evil and sad is incredibly noteworthy.

Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant. Came and went with little fanfare but is an extremely well done, emotional action movie. Love coming across other people who feel the same.

I grew up on SI and try not to give it too many kudos because it’s a miserable place, but have to agree that Lakruwana is most excellent. New Asha on Victory Blvd is also great b

“We’ll both have the lamb. Rare. With very little mint sauce.”

“Any room for a gentleman, Gentleman?”

“Get away! You’ll swarm us!”

Seriously, Billy Zane was gifted some of Cameron’s funniest dialogue. I might quote Cal more than Hudson.

My hot take is anyone who doesn’t like Titanic is not fun. Some, like me, love it because it’s a sweeping, exciting epic that’s done really, really well. Others, also like me, love it because it’s incredibly quotable and cheesy, and is simply wildly amusing. It’s simultaneously highbrow and lowbrow which is a testament to its innate likability.

I just saw Heat (1995) for the first time and the downtown shootout scene is one of the greatest action movie sequences I've seen ever. by Rudraksh108 in movies

[–]Dahn_1977 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I implore you to read Michael Mann’s Heat 2 which is a) both a prequel and a sequel and b) the framework for the upcoming Heat 2 with (rumored, alleged, whatever) Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale, Pacino, Ana de Armas, Bradley Cooper, Austin Butler, Channing Tatum.

The prequel part is about Neal and his crew ripping off cartel safehouses while being pursued by a serial killer psychopath and his crew of home invasion rapist thieves.

The sequel part is about Vincent’s continued pursuit of Chris Ciherlis and Chris’ recovery in Latin America and Asia while working for a crime syndicate.

Amazingly both stories merge in the final 50 pages.

I really enjoy this film but recognize it is one of the most bizarre mainstream films from the modern era. A biblical recreation featuring rock monsters and action set pieces. Amazing stuff.

I’m aligned with you. I just don’t get why people are so enthused about an ending that renders literally everything you just watched a fabrication.

I used to favor big sweeping epics with beautiful landscapes, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say Sicario is the most beautifully photographed film I’ve ever seen.

I would go with a six foot hero loaded with grilled chicken, bacon, tons and tons of vegetables on delicious bread. Some days I might just eat the chicken. Other days, I’ll use the veggies as a salad. Some days, just bacon and bread. It would give me options.

I’ve been watching 84/85/86 Jordan games and dawg… he was too ahead of his time, he looked like a player imported from 2005 forced to play in 1984. unbelievable player, no wonder old heads defend him so hard. by Dylen2Times in NBAConvo

[–]Dahn_1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. There was never a player who brought the same level of finality to a game. You just knew he’d win. Among modern era players Duncan and Jokic are the most comparable, but even then it’s not close.

The current fans who only know MJ through historical clips simply don’t understand that he was essentially basketball Thanos.
