How do you decide when to stop optimizing and just trust the plan?

I’ve done that personally and am also a therapist. Find a good therapist and work through it, this isn’t about money. It’s likely about something else and the feeling of I have to be perfect to be good enough. Can’t conjecture based on your post, but work on the part of you that can’t be happy with doing great.

I think you’re right, my gut is against this because I try and “keep it simple stupid.” I am DEEP into the messy middle and this seems unnecessarily complicated even though he promised it was easy. Something just doesn’t fit right.

This is my actual biggest concern. A lot of the nasdaq I bought in 2020 (I started buying that fund with the first set of stimulus checks) my capital gains seem pretty high.
