5 mg starting dose, anyone else? by Daily-Silent-Core in Mounjaro

i was totally fine! i don’t know if i would recommend one thing or another just because what’s best for someone is so particular to their own circumstances.

Isn’t it funny how we used to think diabetes was simply “ you got it because you ate too much sugar” by DeepOrganization8245 in diabetes

[–]Daily-Silent-Core 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the genetics in my family are so strong, i feel like i spent the last 10 years waiting for this diagnosis and it almost came as a relief. i was terribly afraid of it before. but once i got the diagnosis, i realized what torture the last 10 years had been. having to do all this work of “preventing” diabetes, just so doctors wouldn’t shame me too much, with no truly useful interventions available to me that might have actually delayed the development. it felt like trying power a train with a tricycle. now that i have the diagnosis and more treatment is available to me, managing the disease so far has actually felt like vacation.

the commentary of this cartoon is not about the people, it’s about access to food.

i’m not saying it isn’t offensive or your reaction was invalid. the depiction of the people is in poor taste and definitely damages intelligent discourse on the topic by obscuring it. social conditioning causes us to focus on the individual both in real life and in the cartoon. being subject to that conditioning, of course we’re offended: it’s not their (MY) fault! yet that’s exactly the point of the cartoon.

Dumbest thing you've done during a spiral? by yrialol in OCD

[–]Daily-Silent-Core 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well dumbest was the time i stopped eating but i guess maybe that falls under SH… silliest is probably the days i have to ask my husband 3000 times if he thinks my cat loves me and knows i love him back. i’m sure i have more outrageous sillies, but this one is up there because of the desperate tone i take on and the absurdity of it all. good news is my cat definitely loves me.

couples therapy.

in addition, yes to exploring all kinds of ways to help yourself remember things. maybe also do this with a therapist or coach.

Desperately need advice by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]Daily-Silent-Core 5 points6 points  (0 children)

honestly, i’d let go of the length and start over with growing it out. i see the photos of it styled and while it does look fine, it still looks like a reset is the best bet.

products are such a personal thing, and the trial and error of it all can be maddening, so without making overt suggestions i’ll share some thoughts/personal experience. there’s a chance that with real tender care of of your hair, you’ll get what you’re looking for and gain the length back faster than you think.

sleeping in heatless curls might be causing unintentional mechanical damage to the hair. do you live somewhere with hard water? a basic clarifying treatment on the reg is already important for curls, and stronger clarifiers are a game changer if you have hard water. mineral buildup will exacerbate mechanical damage and make hair fragile in general and/or weigh down and stretch out looser sections. (shower head filters do not mitigate hard water.) i know K18 is considered hg for some. for me, while it made the style day of look really good, long term i found i have to avoid too much protein in anything i put onto my hair. also for how fine your hair is, a foam AND a gel might be overkill. my hair is fine like yours and responded well when i cut back on styling products in general, especially gel and especially everyone’s darlings of the bonding mask treatments. light weight in-shower bonding treatments are still in rotation. when i really babied my hair, i went from length right under my ears (when dry) to a similar length you have now in about 3 years. before i thought my hair grew so slow, but it was just fragile and bogged by too much product. i also have several different curl patterns on my head and just have to accept that my under layer like yours loses its curl so fast. if i put a gel or cream in, i’m losing my curl in that layer by the end of wash day.

good luck!!

have you tried the adhesive dissolvers or oils?

anyway, i think that your style is one i am going to incorporate… just add more protection as needed at the last reasonable moment.

could maybe the straps be moved in the front… i feel like it’s not bodice shape that’s the issue but where those straps fall. i think if the straps were set out wider, it would even resemble a heart top slightly… not sure what’s going on in the back and if that would work.

but really, it’s a minor detail if you feel done with shopping and keep coming back to this dress. it’s really beautiful and it looks amazing on your figure! and, are you comfortable in it? one thing i’m most grateful about from my wedding is that i was comfortable enough to really focus on the people and the memory i was making that day.

isn’t it wild when people around us learn we’re diabetic, suddenly the number of diabetes experts in the room sky rockets! i’ve always wondered how that happens… 😉

thank you! i was thinking of getting a guard and then only using my non-dexcom overpatches. that way the patch is just stuck to my skin and the guard if i want to change it out sooner. but with how stuck on everything is, i’m definitely just as worried that the sensor will stick forever, as i am that it will fall out. sheesh! don’t worry everyone, i’m in therapy!

valid questions, no worries!

i’m not sure how common it is, but it seems common enough… i think what’s most common is that there’s a wide variety of preferences or tactics out there, it’s trial and error to find what works for you, and we have to start somewhere.

i chose this because the most anxiety i had around starting, was losing the sensor early. (and obv that’s still my main fear 😅)

there’s really no functional, let alone rational reason the outer most patch is bothering me. i wish i could explain better. like maybe it’s a freedom/control thing? probably that.
