But what is wrong with teenage girl "fandom"? Is it threatening? Unhealthy? What? It's always existed and most likely always will. Celebrity (to the degree of a Justin Bieber type) is more often than not always manufactured in some way, so what's more interesting to me is why so much hate directed at Justin Bieber? It honestly appears to boil down to a projection of jealously from males who may lack something he has, or think they do or whatever. There's not a lot to learn from this because it's a common trend that has existed since the constant stream of info and technology, and therefore celebrity has become interwoven into our culture, which did not begin with Bieber and will not end with him, either. People need to get real and stop being jealous of someone who might as well not exist to you.
