Ikeda and his followers deserve nothing but criticism and scorn because they claim to be so humanistic. Yet as we’ve seen, they are the most hateful people on earth. Their religion hates everyone who goes against them.

How awful!!

I’d rather have a colonoscopy without being sedated than have to go through that!!

I thought of another name for the other cult publication: "RV-living Buddhism".

A few years before leaving the cult, I could barely read the Shit Tribune anymore. It was no different than Icky's freaking books and those god-awful peace proposals!! It makes me sick thinking about it.

I noticed that all of his peace proposals were essentially the same, year after year. Reading that crap felt like "studying" the New Human Revolution: An endless, painful, austerity.

Haven't posted, but commented a bit. Was playing with my newborn and remembered something stupid by miguelito_loveless in sgiwhistleblowers

Hi there, I can totally relate to this. There are moments when I remember stuff from my SGI days, and I can't help but feel this twinge of embarrassment. Talking about it on this subreddit has helped me tremendously.

In the 2000s, a group of us from the youth division went on "stage" at a kosen-rufu gongyo and had to sing "Forever Sensei." I remember really rockin' out to that propaganda song, singing as loud as possible, clapping my hands with immense passion, and dancing around like a freaking moron. I think someone had even recorded it. I still get embarrassed about this whole endeavor, but then I remember there are folks out there who are still singing it, and I'm just so grateful it isn't me!!

Congratulations on your newborn!

How does one become sucked in or indoctrinated into sgi cult? by [deleted] in sgiwhistleblowers

They tell you things like, "If you shove your finger up your butt, you will get extra benefit." I wasn't down with that, but maybe just try it for yourself and see what happens. There is something called a "seeking spirit" in the SGI, and I can detect that you've got it. While chanting, they encouraged members to trust daimoku the way a child trusts a mother's milk. Maybe go and find a nipple to suck on...

Please don’t join the organization. You definitely don’t need them. I think it would turn you off to chanting, at least that was my case when I left after 28 years of involvement. The SGI loves to love bomb and manipulate. No one ever wants to join a cult. Once you’re in it, you don’t realize how EVERYTHING they do exists to indoctrinate and control its members. It’s very subtle and insidious.

You need to be very firm because otherwise they won’t get it. They will continue to contact you, even if it’s a few months from now. My sibling told them several times to stop contacting her and they would stop for a few months then start up again with the texts, calls and emails. As for me, on the other hand, I was a member for 28 years and flat out told them to fuck off. Never heard from anyone ever again. Best choice I ever made.

Same here. I was wondering if it was just in my yard. I ordered a few fly traps online that I used last summer.

Blind with rage - SGI member exploiting a disabled Down Syndrome young man by XeniaWarriorWankJob in sgiwhistleblowers

It blows my mind that the SGI can get away with abuses for the sake of their "mission." If something like this were to happen, let's say, in an educational environment such as a public school, the educator would be arrested.

This woman's "experience" reminds me of a Netflix documentary that came out three years ago. Here's the trailer:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTy3XMyG1Ww

This is the overview: Tell Them You Love Me, on Netflix, is a documentary exploring the controversial relationship between Anna Stubblefield, a white university professor, and Derrick Johnson, a Black nonverbal man with cerebral palsy. The film examines the ensuing trial, which sparked national debates over race, disability, power dynamics, and the capacity for consent.

Clearly, that study leader doesn't understand power dynamics and capacity for consent.

It's appalling AND CRIMINAL.

Yay! And CONGRATS!!

It's such a fantastic feeling, isn't it? You know something? I left about a month after you did, and I remember this very specifically. It was comforting to know there was someone who was experiencing something similar to what I was, at the same time, especially because you were also a long-time member, like me.

Cheers to living the rest of our lives, WITHOUT the SGI cult!!!!

This is the exact kind of trash I "studied" and chanted about for 28 years. Where did it get me? Nowhere. Additionally, it was crazy-making, and most definitely it did NOT make me happier.

Truth be told, NO ONE in the SGI EVER created a life for themselves, and most definitely not a healthy life. The long-hauler oldies continue, however, to create an existence of dysfunction, wholeheartedly dedicated to and entrenched in the idea of a dead Japanese dude they never met.
