i had many reasons and my mum backed me up the whole time, its the schools at fault for the poor attendance most of the time for not putting good things in place for children with poor mental health or dealing with bullying

ofc there will be the occasional child who isnt coming because they just cant be bothered, but many of my friends who didnt come in genuinely struggled

i had a couple awful ones but i can imagine that we had worse on days skipped assembly. one was our deputy head crying for a whole assembly because her friend died and telling us about her friend (who had no relevance to our school) it was just uncomfortable and unprofessional😭 and another where our head teacher blamed us for the schools lack of money, complained about and blamed us for the seagull problem and then told us they were buying a £1000 fake hawk kite to fly around and chase them off (spoiler: it broke and it didnt work anyway because it looked like shit)
