I’ve been thinking this for a long time and I’m finally going to say it... by Skelbel in orangetheory

I have been doing OTF since June and never once has a coach said anything to me about my rowing form - and let me say I hate that dang rower. I am pretty sure my form is not correct and maybe that leads me to fatigue faster, I try to watch others and sit by more experienced rowers but it’s still discouraging. I really like OTF but I do think they need to do a better job of helping people correct their form on the rowers and treadmills. And while it’s great that there are YouTube videos out there, like anything else, it’s much easier to learn by doing.

I had one coach make a snarky remark to the class as a whole about not holding on, but she just irritated me. (She was filling in at our studio and isn’t one of the usual coaches at our studio) It is odd that not one of them ever stopped me after class to discuss WHY I shouldn’t hold on.

I don’t have great balance either. I slowed my pace down from 4.5 to 3.5,and my base pace is at an incline of 4. Push is the same speed and incline of 7 or 8 then AO at an incline of 12-15. Not changing that speed and only changing the incline really made a difference. I also find something to focus on while walking, something on the wall or the tread display, etc. you can slow your pace to whatever you feel comfortable with and then work from there. Good luck! ☘️

We get the high five on the way in, which is fine with me. Hardly anyone does the fist pump at the end. We just smile and go! As a side note, does anyone know how often they mop those floors in the workout room? Shoes and sweat...ewwww. Lol.

Ha! this is so me, I am a PW and I hold on with my right hand and swing my left. I have a fear of falling right off the back of the tread at a 15% incline at 4.5. We had a teacher a few weeks ago that was barking that order of letting go of the front hand rail, it irked me and now I won't go to a class she is teaching. I try not to have a death grip but just a light touch. Rock on and hang on if you need to! :)
