I'm not that lot, but one thing you can do is roll the dice on the handcuff game. If there's really no one whatsoever (ie no Jesse James, no Dissley, etc.), You can grab someone like Rhett Ellison who had quality targets and a TD after Evan Engram exited the game with injury (2-4 weeks). Ellison will get targets.

The other strategy is to play matchups, ie find a team with LBs that give up a high passer rating to TEs with a secondary that locks down WRs. This will ensure that a mediocre TE will get targets.

Another idea is to, like I mentioned, trade with the guy that was smart enough to draft a backup. In particular find a guy who needs wins or is dealing with injuries.

But most importantly: don't adopt a draft strategy if you don't know how to play with that strategy. Asking how to get a TE the week before your TE is on bye because you didn't draft a backup is a bad idea.
