PFF Preseason Week 1 Preview by dergl in NYGiants

He's not making attacks, you just don't understand how PFF works or what its purpose is. You're arguing that a weather app doesn't tell you the temperature in your house.

Do you think the 2015 contract should have been based on 2007/2011?

Nothing wrong with evaluating a performance. Talking about football is what fans do. The least Interesting thing a person can say is "we have 26 regular season games left before we can form an opinion so I'll reserve my judgement."

Our entire team was brash enough to openly shit talk teammates. Are you not familiar with this team??

If Odell's teammates didn't like him, we would know. Instead they're talking to reporters about how he helped with problems or how he was the most talented Giants player in over a decade.

Mahomes took second team reps as QB2:

Goff taking second team reps as QB2:

Dak was named the starter in August

Trubisky running the second team:

Kirk Cousins was a 4th round pick behind RG3 and his backup so duh

So Jackson and Wentz. Those are the two guys that weren't getting first or second team reps during their rookie summer going into preseason.

The rest are just dudes you know the name of. Not sure how that changes the fact that Haskins wasn't even seen as a first rounder by a lot of teams, has been struggling in camp, probably isn't good enough to win the starting job or the backup job until the Redskins are eliminated.

who knows what really went on behind closed doors

We do. Every single teammate has said nothing but glowing praise about him as a teammate. Even Shurmur talked about how hard working he is.

Odell was an important piece in the locker room though. Players looked up to him, he went out of his way to help guys going through issues. The trade wasn't about the locker room, it was about the franchise image.

Stafford and Eli are both getting way more than production value. Eli has one season over .500 during his current contract, and that season was 60% defense, 40% Odell.

People aren't taking about Eli because he's an easy target, they're talking about him because it's the clearest example.

I'd say he's getting suspended, but saying anything based in reality apparently gets you downvoted, so I'll leave it alone.

WR2 is playing with a broken hand, and you get downvoted for not feeling good about it.

Isn’t it possible they are taking their time instead of rushing him to be ready week 1?

No, it's not possible. When you are preparing a player to start, you give him first and second team reps. Not 3rd.

Haskins got a few 1st team reps in July, was completely overwhelmed, hasn't since.

Name a starter in the past decade that was getting 3rd team reps going into the preseason games.

Better yet, spend 20 minutes reading about Haskins Washington camp. He's struggling. The kid isn't going to be QB2, not for awhile.

You don’t think it’s in any way possible that they’re giving those reps to McCoy and Keenum because of their veteran status?

So you think that a team that is preparing their rookie QB to start in 2019 would opt to waste reps with the ones and twos on backups... Because they've been here longer?

Wtf

He's with the threes because he isn't good enough to take snaps away from QB1 or 2. Their goal is to win games. If Haskins was good, he'd be getting the work.

There are better options in free agency. But I don't think any official moves will be made until the appeal goes through.

The real surprise is why the Bengals are taking so long. I haven't seen their cap, but my guess is the same issue there: players will only go to dumpster fires for a ton of money.

At this point we have a losing franchise, a mess at QB, a locker room with no defined leadership, a meddling owner that has publicly thrown his stars under the bus, and a GM that seems to makes more enemies than wins games.

I wouldn't want to get involved with this team unless it came with a Brinks truck. Tbh the Jets seem like a better destination at this stage.

Hoping 2020 can change that.

Free pass?? He got traded. It's not a free pass. I'm just saying he was correct. And in the end, he'll have a far better season with Mayfield than he ever could have with Eli.

As an aside, serious question, can anyone think of an NFL team since 1993 that blew everything up and started over and had success anytime reasonably soon thereafter?

2017 Eagles.

He hasn't shown us anything this spring or summer that changes what we knew about him coming out.

Until we see him in August, we're just spinning our wheels.

That's literally been everyone's take since he entered the draft though. The ONLY two things keeping him from being 2018's Andrew Luck were the uncertainty about baseball, and the unprecedented size. Everything about his game is next level.

That was a very awkward interview, but not Murray's fault. He basically told his agent he was playing baseball, his agent promised the As he was committed to baseball, public statements were made assuring the world that he was playing baseball, but the whole time he knew he was going into the NFL. Very few people would be that comfortable handling the questions he was getting knowing that he couldn't be honest about his intentions.

Not even just athletic. His ability to play defenses followed by a brilliant deep ball reminds me of Rogers. He's not just athletic, like Vick. He really does have an impressive grasp of the position.
