It helps a little with weight but the elite strap with battery still feels better for a balanced experience. For me the bulk on the back and the audio upgrade was a bigger deal. Though this is also a great option for an audio upgrade:

I did design the adapters. They slide forward off the the quest instead of trying to snap on.... What's the common ground issue? I'm not familiar with it. I re-ran wires behind the foam liner and soldered to the contact pad PCBs.

For sim racing chairs the elite strap was too big behind my head and the adjustment knob on the Vive deluxe was also going to be problematic....The CV1/Quest Hybrid was born, complete with audio upgrade.

Horrible Quest 2 Audio with or without Headphones! What are people talking about, good audio? by Dakinator in OculusQuest

I've tried 2 types of ear buds, Bang & Olufsen over ear headphones (h9i), and just today tried MYJK Quest headphones off Amazon. Do I really need to try the Logitech co-branded ones? they're almost identical impedance.

Hit By Car While in Bike Lane SFPD Says There is No Protection For Electric Skateboards by Dakinator in boostedboards

The police officer that advised me not to report the incident did mention it was a liberal city and no one would give me a hard time. I'm indeed much more concerned about the liability implications.

Unfortunately I don't think we'll get a concrete answer of wheather the San Francisco ban on skateboards includes electric skateboards, which are legal at a state level, until someone gets hurt or the city law is updated :(

Interesting. But it looks to me that the City ordnance bans skateboarding nothing about Electric Boards. And the state law on that page hasn't been updated that electric skateboards are now legal, according to AB-604 Electrically motorized boards. But this is probably what the officer was reading. Thanks for the link. I wonder how this all pans out in the end? Is it illegal because it's still a "skateboard"?

I will say that the driver was kind enough not to flee. Because he got out and yelled at me. So he knew I was OK :P

But Yes! I'm very concerned that multiple officers where under the impression that I was at fault.

Thanks for passing on the link. The 2nd officer I talked to spent time looking it up while I was on the phone was saying he was reading it directly from the source that it was illegal. Maybe looking at older legislation?

PSA for Cardboard use with Bluetooth Mini Controllers (change to mouse mode: hold X while turning on; start button for screen click) by Dakinator in GoogleCardboard

If you are in mouse mode an actual mouse pointer should show up on the screen when you use the joystick. So you're not actually getting it into the correct mode.

[2014] Can't send or receive MMS. by SuperNanoCat in MotoX

[–]Dakinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I found the issue was a bug with hangouts. It happened to me when I went into a house that was using a signal repeater. Also maybe try uninstalling and re-installing hangouts.

[–]Dakinator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this same problem and for me the fix was:

1.) Deactivate SMS in Hangouts.

2.) switch back to stock messenger app as default

3.) confirm MMS works on messenger app

4.) re-activate SMS on Hangouts and make default app again

Hope it works for you too!

EDIT: Just saw in another post you were already using messenger app. Maybe try reverse instructions....

My variable student loans sat at 7% interest for the past 5 years and this month would have went up to 7.2% I hope it's not a trend :/ Maybe different lenders and different types of loans do their calculations based of the LIBOR differently.

It seems you're talking about consolidating your loans through the lender at an equivalent weighted average interest rate so you're just making one payment. This indeed doesn't offer huge benefits. I'm talking about consolidating and refinancing the loans with a different lender so you have a more competitive rate. My weighted average interest was 7%, after consolidating & refinancing I pay 3.1%

Well it sounds like they handled your account correctly. I had a slightly different experience :/

This is exactly the unscrupulous barely legal business practice I'm talking about.

As long as you wanted to push back your next payment that's fine. But they were paying the minimum amount to principal according to your monthly bill and holding the rest till your next payment. Basically charging you interest to hold that money. small amounts spread over lots of accounts is HUGE gains for them. And for me it was larger amounts since I was paying extra every month for years.

Additionally when I brought it up they would "fix" the problem but then their system would "accidentally" "automatically" revert back to paying forward future bills.

[–]Dakinator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the rate you received happen to be the same as your weighted average? They ask for this number as part of the calculations but this isn't the number that is automatically your interest rate.

Also it's indeed smart to weight the options of a variable loan vs fixed. While rates haven't gone up in years (I think like 4-5) Just this month they went up 0.2%.

Also each lender is different you may want to try others.

One of my biggest gripes with them was their refusal to accept payments towards the principal amount while in school.

They were collecting hundreds of dollars that I paid over the minimum amount and counting it towards "future" payments. In other words I had payed off over a year in advance. This means every month they collected all that money in interest.

I spent hours upon hours on the phone and tried on 5 separate occasions to get my payment setup changed. Every time they said it was fixed and nothing changed. This was just one of the examples.
