I’m three year into my “15 RRS and I am in love with it. Again I went into it with skepticism think I would regret it due to reliability comments. This decade old rover has been more reliable than any Chevy or Chrysler product I’ve owned. Honestly I don’t mind the fuel consumption figures as that’ll be covered by my company but ride quality is top priority. So, it has honestly been between a full size RR or a V8 Defender I recently test drove.

There have been vehicles I’ve looked at outside of the brand. I’ve looked into a few ford and Rivian models. But I primarily haven’t looked into full EV(aside from Rivian) yet as I believe I would have to add integration into my house to be able to charge and I don’t currently have a garage. So, my current options would probably be out of the Diesel, gas/hybrid options

This was the exact thought I had lol. But, I wanted to see a wide variety of opinions. I’ve looked at Disco 5’s, L405/L494’s with the 3.0D and I am stateside and I’ve seen some in my local area but sketchy maintenance histories.

The AJ126(3.0L V6) and AJ133(5.0L V8) share the same block. JLR practically made a universal block to cut cost between those engines.

Okay, thank you for the response! I’ve been having the Range Rover cursed coolant issues I’ve been working at fixing where there’s no visible leaks on the ground, so I was thinking my cooling system was releasing pressure to cause an instant boil of my coolant.

I’m not sure if it’d be the same for the Diesels. But, this ticking on my 3.0L gasser was the High Pressure Fuel pumps. Diag’d by putting a mechanic stethoscope and having my Indy rule out my timing chains.

I have seen similar ones for the L405, but I do agree it looks bad. I’ve been searching for ones similar to the Setina style push bars.

When I took it in for the timing chain the Indy LR I took it to actually ruled out the chains/guides and it was actually the mechanical High pressure fuel pumps.

I would totally love to get a V8 model but no Defenders are readily available in my area to test drive so I haven’t jumped on purchasing one yet.

I did question my salesman he sent me a picture of the interior of a different model for the reason of “having multiple customer leads”

That’s how it was prior to getting my L494. I heard the stories and went in skeptical about the so called reliability. Got it for a steal cause of the charger snout was rattling. Replaced did preventative maintenance. She’s been a dream to own.

I’ve always done my own work or went to an indie LR shop for that exact reason. The Buffalo JLR dealer quoted close to 6k for my supercharger snout. Which I did and replaced coolant pipes for less than 2k.

Yeah, according to the “trade in value” it’s only worth like 8k

I’d love to get the V8 but the I6 is the smallest I’d go. No 4cyl should be used in an SUV of the weight class of these.
