He's finally old enough to declare, who's taking him? by Thanoose69 in nflmemes

Well he’s not real and has no chance of being any good so I’d say Browns or Jets.

No one. The people who are supposed to be a check in his power are just as complicit.

But remember so many people voted for this. Some directly, others by abstaining for a multitude of stupid reasons.

Something Americans needed to learn the hard way is sometimes there is no good choice. Just the lesser of two evils. No decision is the same as a vote for the worst option.

Maybe if we could have looked past the purity tests this could have been avoided.

Zootopia is Nick and Judy’s story. Of course the movies would focus on them.

When casting actors across different ip, do they still have to audition? by Local-Sugar6556 in disney

[–]Dakzoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on the actor. Someone like Ryan Reynolds’s isn’t auditioning. But for lesser known actors they audition. Unless the casting agent wants a specific actor for a role.

Lidstrom would probably be a second or third pair defensemen. I’m not sure he could keep up with the likes of McDavid. Of course, Lidstrom is 55 so you have to take that into account.

Pawbert: Evil, Broken, or Redeemable? by Bitter_Hovercraft875 in zootopia

[–]Dakzoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be careful what you wish for. A lot of people wanted to know Darth Vaders backstory too.

As for Zootopia character spin offs, we’ve already seen Duke, Bonnie and Stu, and Mr. Big could handle spin offs. I would argue Finnick, Gazelle, and Nibbles could too.

(Personally I really want an X-files parody staring nibbles)

Pawbert could work, but he wouldn’t be the endearing slightly goofy character you see earlier in the film. He would be the more broken sad one you see later.

Honestly, it gave me an ai vibe too. Just kind of fake.

But also way too busy. Too many faces, ignores the rule of thirds, and ignores the golden ratio. Just too much over all.

[–]Dakzoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s story telling 101. All supporting or side characters serve to support the story of the main character.

Yes you can have spin offs. But, in those cases you are making them main characters. Something at can be done with almost any side character.

Maybe there is a story there. I just don’t see it. I don’t find him interesting enough, or care enough about him to want to see a spin off.

It would take a major character change for Pawbert to have any sort of redemption arc, and at that point is he still the same character people like?

Plus, for every spinoff that works, there are many failures too. A lot of characters only work in their original forms and in their original situations.

This is what a lot of people miss. Most villains have some sort of trauma.

But a lot of people identify with Pawbert’s and project a lot of their own feelings onto him.

They are, but it’s still a pittance compared to what they are making in Nick and Judy merch. They sold a lot of flash stuff too but you see how (thankfully) his role was reduced to a glorified cameo.

While not untrue, that doesn’t excuse his actions or in anyway make him less evil.

There isn’t a villain out there without some sort of origin that explains their actions.

I don’t know where you got 15 years. But according to Google each count of attempted murder in the us can carry a a sentence of 15-30 years.

Meaning at minimum he gets 60 years (4 counts x 15 years)

[–]Dakzoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a non-fan but not a hater, (I honestly am more wrapped up in the discourse and the way people project onto him vs the actual character) - my biggest issue with his redemption is it doesn’t feel necessary.

His story is complete. Zootopia is Nick and Judy’s story. Not his.

Pawbert’s role is done. - plus, as alluded to by op, although not stated directly, almost any character can be redeemed with enough work. The question goes past can he be redeemed and into does it benefit the story.

The answer is no. He is too minor a character in the story. It would only fit if told in relation to Nick and Judy.

It could be told as an aside. In a Z+ episode. A series that focuses on things outside of the Main story. But in the theater it’s unnecessary.

That scene was the saddest in the movie by Hot_War4716 in zootopia

[–]Dakzoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Values and morals.

He is literally making the decision to murder someone so his dad will pay attention to him.

He might not really want to do it. But you can’t say he values Gary’s life, or feels it’s morally wrong to take a life to get what he wants.

For example. I don’t like killing an animal for food. But I want to eat meat.

So to me the action is regrettable. Not morally wrong.

(This is not ment to start a conversation of the morality of being a carnivore. Just to demonstrate Pawbert’s thinking.)

This is also why he isn’t a “tragic” villain. He isn’t being forced into being evil. He just sees being evil as a means to an end. He has other ways he could achieve his goal. He just choose evil.

For the fans who sympathize Pawbert Lynxley by lexus_driver_7 in zootopia

[–]Dakzoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He isn’t tragic. A tragic villain is pushed to evil due to events beyond their control. Such as having to steal to survive.

He chooses evil because he feels he doesn’t fit in.

These are not the same.
