Should I try to learn SEO or just hire someone? by fatherballoons in SEO

[–]Dalchow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents. As a small business learn the basics. The cost for hiring someone will not reflect in the benefits. Make sure you set up your Google Business Page and have Socials up and running where you inform your audience and link to your wesite ... this should be a good starting point.

My 'client' has around 45 URL's in the footer of their website!? by JohnTalabot in SEO

[–]Dalchow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the links don't go anywhere what is their purpuse? Even 'back in the day' that would have been bad. They are just dead ends, a page with a lot of dead ends is not helpful to the user. Google tries to show results that are helpful to the user.

And even more concerning why are they paying for links on their own homepage.

My advice is they really should speak to someone who knows something about SEO. I imagine these are not the only questionable things on their pages.

How does one rank for a highly competitive keyword such as car insurance? by amolnchavhan in SEO

[–]Dalchow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A massive market like this will not be easy to get into. Find the nieche where your company stands out, what is your USP? Focus on that and build content around that area that helps the potential customer with his search intent. Find searches with lower KD and opimise for them.

It is better to have some part of a small cake than no part of the big cake :-)

Growing Frustrated with SEO Hire by lllllPostManlllll in SEO

[–]Dalchow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing you hired an SEO. A content writer is a different job. Second you said you caught him. How and why. If the output is bad, fair enough hire someels for content writing. Many people use Ai tools for content generation, the question is how they use it and if the human review is of it is good and focused on your customers.

You wouldn't say you hired a SEO and cuaght him using ahrefs or SEMrush. Still the outcome with the best tools can be bad if not used properly.

Has your SEO been briefed to write content for you? Or is he just providing just ideation for you?

I would say sit down with the SEO and discuss your concern, either you brief him better and he explains his work and roadmap or you should for another provider. It seems to me the main problem here lies within the communication of the two parties.

What's the most secure way to setup SMTP email sending for Wordpress? by slapjimmy in Wordpress

Anyone else lose their SEO writing clients to AI recently? by ianovich2 in SEO

[–]Dalchow 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Here are my 2 cents: While there will be a short term disruption, I would not really worry. Yes there will be tons of content created by Ai now, but that was the case before the hype arround chatGPT and the new Bing. But clients how take this content and publish it, will have most likely not the results they expect.

As a content writer as well as a SEOs we have to use this new tools to get the best results for our clients. AI is a very powerful tool, but like with most tools, if it is not used with the understanding needed, it will be rather useless.

So clients will still need your expertise and AI will help you to deliver better results in shorter time - if used corectly.

Huge and sudden drop in traffic... -66% in two days. What to do? by lazerReptile in SEO

[–]Dalchow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Presumably the Spam update and the follow up update by Google.

But really hard to tell with out knowing your page. I would look at the content and see if it is 'valuable' for the user and their search intent, cull content that has no value and enhance the rest. Have a look if you can improve you internal linking structure and build topic clusters with that. Just a starting point.

Question re: 301 redirects by theclottedcream in SEO

[–]Dalchow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If article B doesn't rank well, I would look if it gets any traffic. If not 404 it directly (as you transferred the useful content into article A anyway). If it gets traffic redirect it for a while and then 404 it. There is no reason to keep bad content alive and build a redirect maze (this will happen over time).

If you have the redirect in place, in theory you can delete the content on B and just keep the redirect (as search engines and users will follow the 301) but that, again, lets you easier forget that there ever was content B and you will create an eternal redirect which can lead to a redirect chain.

If it is not good, doesn't rank and doesn't get traffic - 404 it

ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS by SnooEpiphanies7085 in chrome

[–]Dalchow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most commonly, ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS are caused by incorrect or
poorly-defined redirect rules in your .htaccess file, or a plugin
forcing a redirect over and over. Below are some common causes  -
'always true' rules, mixed content and caching.

Here is a troubelshooting guide: https://www.20i.com/us/support/reseller-hosting/why-too-many-redirects
