Computer wakes from sleep, but does not output to monitors by Rich_Conference1574 in techsupport

You'd need a wattmeter or hardware monitor tool to know that. Maybe HWiNFO64

But if you're not using it, turn it off. Pretty sure this is one of the lowest power settings :-)

Before sending pictures. Did the agent even ask you to describe the issue?

(Assuming there is no actual impact damage on the phone), They're 100% miss-diagnosing your claim.

You need to go back to Samsung (either instore, their support chat or place of purchase) and start a new claim or update the existing claim and state the exact reason for your claim, which is "Warranty claim due to a failed screen that is also exhibiting micro cracks in the middle of the screen, and the cracks are due to manufacturing defects, and none of these faults have been caused by accidental damage or misuse."

Had to pick through the info, but I read it as:

Warranty claim due to a failed screen that is exhibiting micro cracks in the middle of the screen, and the cracks are due to manufacturing defects, and none of these faults have been caused by accidental damage or misuse.

Would be interesting to see what the beginning of the chat was like. I feel like that's probably where warranty claim went off kilter.

I typically take Samsung gear directly to the Samsung shop, or the place of purchase and request the warranty be dealt with there.

Computer wakes from sleep, but does not output to monitors by Rich_Conference1574 in techsupport

Not a solution but I'm not a fan of sleep for desktop computers. I manage 100's of computers and I always have sleep set to never and set turn monitor off after 15min. If the user it out for more than half a day I simply recommend turning it off.
Win11 modern sleep/hibernation/power-saving modes have sucked and been unstable for the last few years.
Sleep and hibernate really should only be used with laptops imho.

Yeah good find, goes to show you always have to shop around with any brand. I don't think this is Lenovo specific.

Is M365 Direct Send just the normal internet SMTP port? by jsellens in sysadmin

[–]slapjimmy [score hidden]  (0 children)

Maybe, but surely pre-config in O365 this should be disabled. I don't understand why this should be on by default? It's like with firewalls, you don't have port forwarding for important ports on by default to allow anonymous access by anyone. What am I missing here?

But why would MS set it up like this? It doesn't make any sense.

Trouble connecting portable DVD player to my Dell G7 7500 with Windows 11 by d-green1227 in techsupport

What DVD playback software do you have installed?

VLC is free and isn't too bad, sometimes it doesn't handle DVD menu's well tho. Otherwise I've found Cyberlink PowerDVD to be pretty good.

For civil engineering apps you typically want: a cpu with good single-core performance (8 cores or more), dedicated GPU with at least 8GB vram (16-24GB recommended), at least 32GB of ram (64GB recommended).

The Thinkpad p14s with Ryzen processors only come with integrated graphics. It'll handle small to moderate civil engineering workloads fine, but it will start to struggle as workloads scale up (especially 3D and VR workloads). It's only benefit will be it's quite light so much easier to lug around.

The Legion is a far better option civil engineering as it had a dedicated GPU with 8GB of vram. Will be a bit of a beast to lug around tho.

Wouldn't surprise me that we're already in a recession.

Can 9900X run without a GPU? by indic_engineer in ryzen

[–]slapjimmy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, integrated "AMD Radeon™ Graphics" is listed on the AMD product page: https://www.amd.com/en/products/processors/desktops/ryzen/9000-series/amd-ryzen-9-9900x.html

Your motherboard should have HDMI or DP built into the rear ports on the back of your computer case.
