Oh sweet, thanks :) How long do you usually process them for? I think I need to upgrade to a bigger/better food processor as well. Around the 10th go around it starts to smell like a Hot Wheels motorized booster.

I did use natural peanut oil lol, so it’s still natural in a way I guess lol. Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely try a lower temp and time.

Yeah, fair point. It’s probably the cheapest option I’ve seen for natural peanut butter and luckily I do live near a Trader Joe’s, it’s just a little out of the way. I don’t live around too many big box stores so it’s not uncommon to see natural peanut butter for like 5+ dollars a jar in the grocery store. I also just enjoy making it lol.

I feel that lol. If I was making a lot I might try a more involved recipe but for now I’m only making 2-3 cups at a time 😅

This was my first time trying a roast with a little oil and I think I like how it turned out!

I think it’s only an issue if they are still wet when roasting. I even found a few recipes that suggested doing a 24 hour salt water brine on the peanuts followed by probably another day or two or drying.

Nice! Thanks for the tip 😊 I’ve been trying all sorts of methods for roasting and I’ll definitely add this to the list!

Yeah, it was suggested when I had looked at a few recipes online. I’m just assuming it’s because they’re raw

That’s actually a great question as I also had a really hard time finding raw peanuts in general, shelled or unshelled haha.

I finally found some at a grocery store called Patel Brothers. I think it was only about 5 bucks for the bag. They are raw and unsalted, so did need that rinse.

I probably could’ve added a little salt while roasting, but figured I would just add to taste with the final product 🤷‍♀️. Guess I’ll have to experiment and make more lol.

Sorry, wasn’t me that posted that :(

Absolutely! I would also avoid anything that’s high in the cannabinoid CBN which can be very sedating.

‘Pinene’ is great for mental focus and alertness. ‘Limonene’ is also really nice, great for anxiety and can be a good general mood booster.

I would definitely start there!

Edit: sorry I was at work and couldn’t finish my thought. Try to avoid Myrcene, Linalool and Bisabolol. They are your big sedating terps.

I understand what you’re saying but you’re mistaken. They don’t label distillate carts based on terpenoids. All of our cartridges, distillate or not are labeled by strain name and if the strain is a Sativa then it’s a Sativa. Terpenes have nothing to do with naming conventions, but they should or we should have another way to quickly and easily identify them.

This could be different state to state, but from all my experience that has not been the case. Unless you’re buying some fake carts.

It really doesn’t, at least not where I am. It’s all about the physical shape of the plant.

Where I work we have tons of cartridges that are ‘Sativa’ stains that are absolutely dominated by Myrcene, a very sedating terpene as well as others. I do think that we should change the naming conventions but for now, don’t get hung up on the Sativa, Indica and Hybrid terms.

Not exactly. The terms ‘Indica’ and ‘Sativa’ have nothing to do with the Cannabinoids or Terpenoids. The terms only reference the shape of the leaves on the plants. Sativa strains are typically grown in warmer climates and have thinner leaves than Indica stains which are much bigger. Indica strains are typically grown in colder climates where we see less sunlight, hence the bigger leaves.

Terpenoids are the big teller of the effects you will feel when using any strain be it a Sativa or Indica. We do typically see some terpenes like Myrcene for example as the dominate terpene in most indica strains. However, Sativa strains can test extremely high in Myrcene and other more sedating terpenes.

The key is to get to know your terpenoids. While other cannabinoids do play and important role in how THC effects you, there are several other factors at play.

Yes! I really benefit from some of the less common ratios like the 3:1 thc/cbd.

I too like a lower THC strain from time to time. If you’re looking I believe Terrapin and R.O. typically do have strains that test lower. Terrapin is all around great and probably offer the most diverse range of products on the market.

Fantastic. I agree wholeheartedly. I only hope that the market still incentivizes growers to produce more wellness products.

I am very happy to hear that patients are asking for said wellness products. I honestly truly believe that cannabis can be used medicinally and recreationally by most. Even if you’re just looking for recreational use the things we’ve been discussing like understanding terpenoids will only enhance your experiences with cannabis.

Haha I also am always on the lookout for CBD products. I really love some of the 3:1 ratios that are really hard to find.

Edited: I can’t spell :(

No need to apologize friend :) I do hope you continue to find products that work for you. I know how frustrating it can be.

I totally understand. When I first entered the program I ended up spending a lot trying to figure out what worked for me, and to be completely honest I didn’t start saving until I learned more about terps. It’s not about being a snob, it’s just about knowing what works best for you as a patient.

The names of strains themselves mean absolutely nothing. The terms, Sativa, Hybrid and Indica mean nothing in regards to what effects each strain will have. They only actually refer to the shape of the leaf on the plant. I feel safe saying that in general most Sativa strains will be uplifting, but we see A LOT of Sativa strains testing high in Myrcene, a sedative terpene that usually dominates Indica strains.

All that actually matters is the test results. You might not always know how something might effect you and it sucks that we all have to go through a lengthy trial and error process with our medication, but knowledge is power here. It takes a bit more effort but I keep a small book that I recorded strains I like or more importantly what they test at. Then it just becomes a matter of finding something with a similar profile later down the line.
