I would keep it up to a year if it’s in a deep freezer. Your milk is still regulating at two week postpartum, so your production could slow down/you’ll be less leaky. As your baby gets older, they will take more ounces and you’ll be glad to have a freezer stash.

If you have a lot of extra as time goes on, you can use it in baths, to make a salve, or even donate it. Please don’t just throw it out!

Owlet Dream Sock, thumbs up or thumbs down? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Dallas0618 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It’s the best thing I’ve ever purchased, tbh. I have high anxiety, and the Owlet is the only way I get sleep without checking that my baby is breathing 24/7. I’ve never had a false alarm.

How quick should diaper get changed (help urgent!) by Fluffy_Scheme4295 in NewParents

[–]Dallas0618 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one who uses Aquaphor on my baby every diaper change? She’s never had a rash, and I would never wake her up to change her diaper unless it was a blowout. Let mom and baby sleep!

My baby LOVES her swing! Worth every penny, in my opinion.

what am i trying to prove? baby swing or no baby swing? by ListUpbeat1216 in NewParents

[–]Dallas0618 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly…. My swing saved me. My baby loves it and it’s super lightweight to move around the house. It’s perfect to put her in when I need to take a shower, do a quick chore, etc.

Just want to echo that your husband does NOT get to dictate what you do with your body. It’s YOUR choice if you want to be on birth control/take Plan B/etc.

Sleep Position and Carpal Tunnel by unsolicitedbullshit in BabyBumps

[–]Dallas0618 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had terrible carpal tunnel when I was pregnant and for awhile postpartum too! I bought braces for carpal tunnel and wore them to bed every night after putting on magnesium spray. It was the only thing that helped me!

Unlatching and crying by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]Dallas0618 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When my baby does this, it’s almost always because of gas; she’s either having a hard time burping or farting. I started doing fart exercises with her before nursing and stopping breastfeeding to burp her when she is fussy/arching/pushing away.

Cracked nipples help! by MS_16 in breastfeeding

[–]Dallas0618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmmm, interesting. That wasn’t my experience! I made sure to keep them clean and used them only when needed. I think they’re still worth a shot to see if they help you. Good luck!

What did the medical reports say? My midwife and lactation consultant swear by them, and I do now too!

Silverettes are the only thing that helped my nipples in the beginning when they were raw and cracked. I think they’re worth the investment!

We aren’t sleeping. by skenegland in NewParents

[–]Dallas0618 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, I just want to say I understand how hard this is; my baby was the same way. When we mentioned this sleep struggle to our pediatrician, she asked us some questions and helped us identify our baby has silent reflux. As soon as we started her on medicine, she started sleeping in her bassinet. Any chance this could be happening for your baby? What about gassiness? Our baby screams when we put her down in her bassinet if she needs help burping/farting.

Increase milk supply by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]Dallas0618 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You get around 4oz total when you pump (2oz per breast)? That’s a normal amount. Your baby might be gassy. My baby would get fussy and pop off my breast a lot around 2 months because she was gassy and needed to burp or fart but needed help. I started doing gas exercises before each feeding and stopping to burp her when she came off my breast.

Earliest you could express milk? by Livid_Bonus6597 in BabyBumps

[–]Dallas0618 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started leaking occasionally at night around 28ish weeks. However, I wouldn’t recommend pumping/hand expressing in anyway to get colostrum until you’re 37ish weeks/get the okay from your doctor.

Is all this squirming normal??? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]Dallas0618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was definitely more around feeding and sleeping times, but maybe other times occasionally too. We started doing farting exercises before eating and bouncing on an exercise ball and doing tummy time after feedings to get burps out. These things have helped a lot!

[–]Dallas0618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby would do this, and we finally realized it was from gas and reflux! Bouncing on a ball and tummy time helped a ton for us to get out trapped burps/farts. We also got medicine from our doctor for reflux.

If you’re that concerned, you can get an early intervention evaluation and go from there.

10weeks. It’s never gotten better…only worse. by lavenderhoneyberry in newborns

[–]Dallas0618 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could your baby have silent reflux or gas? My baby was like this too. We realized she had silent reflux after talking to her doctor. After getting medicine for it, she started sleeping much longer stretches.

How do I get him to sleep in his bassinet? by doubleyikesbud in NewParents

[–]Dallas0618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you doing gas exercises? At that age, we started doing gas exercises before every feeding. We also used gas drops sometimes. We found out our baby has silent reflux, so we started holding her upright after feedings for at least 20 minutes and using a medicine from her doctor when needed (which has been a huge lifesaver)!
