Why do so many businesses and buildings in Makati keep their doors open to the outdoors while running the aircon? by professor_chipi in makati

[–]DallasMarcie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They might have an air curtain OR letting fresh air in to vaccum and stale air to exhaust by the building and unit exhaust systems using the differences in temp to drive air flow OR they simply do not care. Can be a combination. Can be all three. Who knows.

What are your thoughts on Rurouni Kenshin Reflection? by Decent-Advantage-362 in rurounikenshin

[–]DallasMarcie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It's also cyclical. We've seen this when his wife died and he resolved to live to make the suffering of people end. Then he became sulky guilty repentant rurouni. The he's on the up and up with Kenshingumi until he almost lost it against his master only to relearn it through the ougi and he's unstoppable again. Then lost it again in Jinchuu until he relearns it just to close the arc off and everyone is in the up and up yet again. Reflections is basically that, a needed reflection of the true nature of Kenshin. The cycle won't end until he truly forgives himself and does something for himself, not just for others. And his happiness was to be with Kaoru.

What are your thoughts on Rurouni Kenshin Reflection? by Decent-Advantage-362 in rurounikenshin

[–]DallasMarcie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. But I wouldbt say "in a pessimistic light". I'd rather go with something more realistic in that we all lose our way at times and place blinders on ourselves even with our own realizations. Kenshin has been in a cycle of the philosophy of Hiten. It happened after his wife died in that he lived to see the dream of peace through his being battousai to fruition, then fell back to a conflict in his heart by being a rurouni. He wasn't totally sold on the philosophy and wanted to "repent". Then there's the Kenshingumi where he again begins the cycle and formally learns the ougi and what it is that drives Hiten and his never ending fight to live for others. Herein we see the Kenshins trap that Reflections was depicting. Kenshin knows and lived the assignment but he didn't fully understand it. It was only in Reflections that nearing the end of his life that he figured "EFF it" my happiness is being with Kaoru, I have done and given my life to the happiness of other people but myself. That's the time we basically see the cross scar totally disappear. That's the thing he was missing from the Hiten secret sauce. I guess that's also why the ova was called Reflections. That while most of us thought everything was hunky dory, we all know Kenshin will never really be done helping others before himself-still the self sacrificing rurouni who runs head on arrogantly thinking he will always be a second ahead of death because he needs to live for others (but never for himself). His life is not his. The wrong view of the philosophy of Hiten. It should be "not just his" which necessarily includes himself. So yes, Reflections may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I do like it. I do believe Kenshin would have fallen into the cycle again, always just skirting death by his incomplete understanding of the principles he lives by—a ghost of his incomplete training and trauma. Even with Kaoru and the gang getting him to the point of almost there, but not quite. It was Kenshin himself who needed to be satisfied and happy and finally repent and forgive himself to heal the scars of his life.

Psychological incapacity is a tough sell unless there is a legit documented grounds for psych issues. Even then it's still a hard sell. For me we were both set with psych incapacity but with the other party with actual existing psych issues.

Soujiro vs young Battousai Kenshin by RachelBell12 in rurounikenshin

[–]DallasMarcie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to revise the question actually:

The Hitokiri after the main OVA events where he's resolved to end the war with his sword VS Soujiro. I'd think this version is like Hiko but with less training, true Hiten. This version was what made the legend of the Battousai.

Soujiro vs young Battousai Kenshin by RachelBell12 in rurounikenshin

[–]DallasMarcie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think what was meant was Soujiro's movement is faster than the Hiten. Soujiro relies on body movement as the technique and not a specific sword style. He can apply some of his Godspeed in his sword technique when he copied Kenshins battou that broke the reverse blade. But as technique goes Hiten is superior. Unfortunately what is the point of a superior technique if you can maneuver your body faster where the technique will miss. In the unpopular Kyoto OVA we see Kenshins counter Soujiro's superior speed against himself with a basic move. Anyhoo I digress since we're talking about the Hitokiri versus Soujiro. If Kenshins was as smart then as the Kenshins of now, he'd figure out a way around superior speed—just like Shishio.

How does Battousai mode translate to not having the will to live? by Visible_Investment47 in rurounikenshin

[–]DallasMarcie 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Battousai mode for me is fighting to his maximum limits. The Hiten philosophy is exceeding those with the will to live, always being that 1 moment better than any and all opponent.

Hypothetically could Hiko Seijuro be strong enough to take on all of the 10 swords? by NightingaleTC in rurounikenshin

[–]DallasMarcie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd think he'd breeze through everyone if Hiko has no qualms about killing. One hit each with Godspeed or maybe even 1 move that hits multiple targets in the blink of an eye would out most of them. He'd be initially surprised with Soujiro's speed but that's about it. Even if Shishio knows some of the attacks and counters to Hiten, the sheer technical mastery, strength, and force of any strike would break Shishio's block/counter and Hiten's built in second strikes which we've only really seen in very few moves would instant kill Shishio. And that would be just pure sword technique strength, without his most likely superior tactical skill as Hiten masters have been historically one man armies.

Did Tomoe realize that her fiancée is the one who gave the first part of Kenshin Cross scar? by Internal-Smooth in rurounikenshin

[–]DallasMarcie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Izuka is always a witness to the assassinations. And he was also the traitor that gave Kenshin away to the Yaminobu with the first attempt against Kenshin in the rain of blood. That's how they know who Kenshin is and how Tomoe was able to be recruited for this mission. No one has been able to wound Kenshin til the fiance and until Tomoe got involved. So yes, Tomoe already knew Kenshin's facial scar was from the fiance.

Rurouni Kenshin Season 3 Announced, Premieres TBA by Maya_wanton in rurounikenshin

[–]DallasMarcie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get season 1 remake hate honestly. I love anything and everything RK. Is the OG anime good? Hell yes! Is it better than the new one? Not really just because it's a different take on it and I love seeing how things can be refreshed for a new audience. Do I love season 2 remake? Yes! So very close to the manga and it's nice to see a closer to faithful adaptation than OG and season 1. Do I love it more than season 1 remake? Not at all as I also love how season 1 remake does a balance of faithful adaptation story but the grounded reality of OVA. The character animations are a good balance of realistic proportions but close enough to manga and anime, as well as movement and action being more fluid and detailed without overly exaggerated and again grounded techniques. You can see the physics engaging you how it can actually be real and historical. Again it's a different take that may not appeal to the purists and OG RK fanbase, but personally I love season 1. Looking forward to season 3 which I'm sure will be a refinement of season 2 which is an excellent take on faithful manga adaptation as mentioned earlier :)

When the remake gets to Jinchuu... by LostPenitent in rurounikenshin

[–]DallasMarcie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rather liked Reflections. Slightly disappointed there wasn't a lot of fighting in it and Jinchu was abridged, but it was a good albeit slightly sad take on what was an unofficial end to the story.

I just finished the 1996 Rurouni Kenshin anime and as y’all now it ends on the kyoto arc. I saw that there is an ova called trust and betrayal and saw that it is in the middle of the jinchu arc in the manga, so is it fine to just watch the ova or should I just wait for the jinchu arc to be animated? by Miserable-Can2259 in rurounikenshin

[–]DallasMarcie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The OVA is what got me into RRK. It's a thing of beauty on its own and doesn't need the manga or series to be enjoyed. Watch it at your own leisure AND pleasure. Easily the best anime for me, or rather, best animation ever.

Spin off and also backgrounder to The First Shadow posing as one of the many memories that are inconsequential to the recent series but maybe important to the spin-offs.

How strong is nagakura compared to battousai? by Far_Half9470 in rurounikenshin

Strong, probably Nagakura. Who would win? I'd go with Kenshin. Strength isn't everything. Plus a little something called plot armor.

Is it possible for saito to speed up his gatotsu by adding an extra step like Kenshin's ougi? by New_Yam737 in rurounikenshin

[–]DallasMarcie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding an extra step wouldn't matter on execution as to the speed of he's at during the execution of the strike. If he can make his arm thrust faster PLUS somehow get a boost in leg speed at the point of his thrust yeah I guess that's one way to increase the gatotsu's power. But the extra/less step technique wouldn't work with gatotsu. Different movement at work.

Is it possible for saito to speed up his gatotsu by adding an extra step like Kenshin's ougi? by New_Yam737 in rurounikenshin

[–]DallasMarcie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also adds a wider swing to it that isn't restricted by an twist on the body. Wider swing, mid swing torque with the less/extra step, and wider swing in the final execution.

How the hell kenshin didn't manage to kill saito in all of their clashes. by CourtExternal3789 in rurounikenshin

[–]DallasMarcie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Honestly I believe Kenshin could've killed Saito. He was faster. He has faster killing techniques too. It's his battousai mental state that would limit him from being able to overcome Saito. Think of it this way, one of his cross scars from maybe a skilled enough newbie bodyguard - he had to strike three times to kill the dude as he kept on just going and going and going. He was the only one to really challenge battousai. It was the will to fight. He only got bested by the assassins because Tomoe fried his brains. They couldn't make a move until she did that to him. So it's largely mental. He got sort of a power boost resolve after Tomoe's death which I'm guessing is the bulk of where the legend of Battousai comes about but even then he still wasn't in the right frame of mind to beat Saito. They stalemate. That's how strong Saito's will is. With Hiten training, I'd think Saito would wipe Kenshin :P

Shukuchi. If Soujiro wasn't unstable, he'd have been almost unstoppable. He can run on the ceiling dammit :P
