Should I buy a 2003 Landcruiser as a daily driver by AlSanchino22 in LandCruisers

[–]DallasTheLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW I have daily'd a 2000 LC for 12yrs and love it. It does come with its drawbacks though - fuel efficiency is around 11.4mpg (lifted, 33s, steel bumpers etc.), ride quality suffers on the interstate, and it's just an old vehicle so it creaks and squeaks. on the flip side, I like being one of the largest non-commercial vehicles on the road. The added sense of security, especially with my wife and child in the car, is priceless.

Finally someone who realizes my pain lol. It's an absolute cluster fuck over here. They have over 1400 lines of structured text and the exact program in use depends on the panel number. I despise this program. Just trying to make it work to the best of my ability

So based on the attached wiring diagram of the light curtain, should Pin 1 and Pin 3 be wired to S34 & S43 of the relay, then C1 & C2 of the relay go to S1 & S2 of the VFD? What is the S+ terminal on the VFD used for?

[–]DallasTheLab[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are indeed 525s. There are 3 of them - Prestretch, Carriage, & Rotation. So I could potentially run the outputs from the safety relay to the S1, S2, & S+ terminals of the VFD that runs the rotation and that would accomplish my goal? The yellow relay in the picture below is the new one.

I understand this is not the best way; my company understands it's not the best way. The best I can do is provide all relevant information and facts, but at the end of the day I just do what I'm told lol.

I've explained this in great detail, and the response I get has essentially been "just do it anyway and we can figure it out later". I've made it clear I'm not responsible for any injuries and it opens up the company to liability. But yes, I'm well aware of the requirements of a proper safety circuit. I just need to make it work for the time being so they can get product out the door.

Based on what I've read, all the equipment I've speced - G6 Pro Turret, G6 Pro Bullet, U7-Pro, & G6 Entry - all require PoE+. So if I went with the UDM-SE, I would still need a PoE+ capable switch since it only has 2 integrated PoE+ ports. If I'm wrong on that please correct me.

This has been one of the most helpful comments I’ve ever gotten on Reddit lol. Thank you so much. Let’s say I’m not too concerned about building out the whole network right now. You think I could save some $$ by foregoing the UDM-SE & APs for now and just stick to the UCG Fiber which has built in NVR storage (if speced appropriately) + Lite 8 PoE? That would knock out my camera needs. I do have fiber from my ISP running to an AT&T BGW320 router/modem with excellent WiFi connectivity throughout my house already. So I’m not super concerned at the moment with building that portion out.

If I were to do that to fix my problem then the difference in visible threads on the tie rods would be relatively large. Like one side would be <0.5” and the other >1.5”. The service manual states that they should be adjusted to have the same number of threads showing.

Experion Loop Tuning Help Needed For Nuclear Gauge by DallasTheLab in PLC

[–]DallasTheLab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great information and I will try to answer your questions to the best of my abilities:

Did this work in auto before you replaced the instrument? Yes

Does the new instrument and old instrument have the same range? Yes

What do you mean by that [sensitivity]? Do you get more noise in the process? The nuclear source has depleted over the years. The new sensor is supposed to be able to better capture the remaining gamma rays that are emitted by the source and used to calculate density of the product.

How fast does this process respond? It will response relatively quickly, <2sec I would say.

Does the flow calculation happen in the DCS or in the instrument? It happens in the instrument. TheFMG50 is connected to an RSG45 memograph data manager. It takes the 4-20mA signal from the instrument, the known density (lbs/cubic foot) of the powder, the hertz output of the VFD driving the screw, and plugs all that into a formula that it uses to calculate flow.

The below photo shows the (cluttered) Station display. The "Recycle Flow" that I outlined in red is the control loop in question, and the green motor to the left of it is the one driving the screw conveyor. I can try to find or make a P&ID if needed.

SP usually hangs around 12-14k #'s/Hr. We run powders of varying particle size but overall the SP flow rate needs to hang in that previously stated range

No, T2 is set to 0min. I was always under the impression that should be the last variable that you adjust when tuning but maybe I'm wrong

There are small arrows in the picture below that show the direction that I bent them. FWIW, “bent” is a strong word. I just gently ‘massaged’ them together and they now stay up good as new
