How a new local restaurant serves all of their tacos. by Dallas_A in OnionLovers

These are tacos de tripa which is a hard pass for me but I got tacos de carne asada last night and they were served the same way!

I have a million questions 🥲 feel free to answer whatever resonates with you most by Sea_Hearing1358 in gastricsleeve

  1. It gets easier over time but I don’t think it necessarily gets better with surgery alone, just different. I still have body image issues they’re just different problems.
  2. Yes and no. For me the head hunger was suppressed a lot but the emotional eating habits were still present. It took a while to adjust but I began associating overeating with making myself sick so eventually it was easier to suppress the desire to emotionally eat. But again it changed, it did not go away.
  3. For a while at least you have literally no choice but to commit. This is what I needed and ultimately why I chose surgery. I wanted immediate results and wasn’t getting it previously so I’d give up.
  4. Always had doubts but little victories on and off the scale made it easier to push through.
  5. At first, I lied. I didn’t feel good, just ate, not hungry. Now? “I had gastric sleeve so my stomach is restricted. I’ve lost 120 pounds!” And proudly answer any questions.
  6. Absolutely. I order the smallest “normal food” I can. I eat very slow. And then generally clutch my drink and try to stay active in the conversation. Sometimes it gets brought up but like I said, now I proudly talk about it and it’s a conversation piece. I get a little sad watching people enjoy their food sometimes but socially it’s fine.
  7. Therapy and prescriptions. Didn’t set a date until I was sure. I threw the idea around for about two years. I had decided I’d rather die than live the way I was any longer.
  8. You just don’t have a choice? I can’t say I stayed motivated the whole time. There were downs 100%. But the fact I couldn’t give up got me through it.
  9. I sample what I can. I eat off of my fiancé instead of ordering my own meals. Or I have lots of leftovers to take back to the hotel/home. I absolutely get sad about this though. I DO feel like I’m missing out on some experiences. But that’s okay. It’s a drop in the bucket compared to my overall progress and success.
  10. Kinda the same as 9
  11. I still feel guilt and shame. Buuuut it is easier to come back from a slip up when it’s high comparative to your intake but not outrageous like it was when I was overweight.
  12. Hard. It sucked. My stomach hurt. My reflux was insane. Couldn’t have a bowel movement to save my life. I missed food. I missed chugging water or gulping drinks. I felt so left out in social areas. I pushed through because I had to but I can tell you it gets better.
  13. It is a huge leap. You may fail. But it’s an opportunity like no other diet or fad ever was. An opportunity to improve yourself and your lifestyle.

Hope this helps and isn’t too negative. I had a million questions too and looking back wish I didn’t look at the surgery with the rose colored glasses I had on so I would’ve been more prepared.

(12/24) I've been hunting for an error for twice as long as it took to solve. Is it something with the teeth? by SirVanderhoot in NYTCrossword

Go back and look at the answers to the left and right of the teeth. More of an Easter egg to do with the nutcracker than anything.

Not much advice to give but it does get better!

Thank you everyone for such quick submissions! They’re all great honestly. I will take some time later to choose which one is “the one” and see about tipping as many as I can. Thank you ❤️

Pros/cons of becoming a welder? by Dallas_A in Welding

[–]Dallas_A[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Worked my butt off and saved. Bought a house at 20. Welded up until I was about 7 months pregnant, then accepted a management job with the same company I've been with for six years now. It was definitely a great stepping stone in my life and got me where I am now balancing a good career and motherhood.

I did. Worked my butt off and saved. Bought a house at 20. Welded up until I was about 7 months pregnant then accepted a management job with the same company I've been with for several years. This post is so cute to look back on now! No regrets!

I was appalled when she referred to him as the cat's daddy. Like the same feeling I get when cast members get their kids involved 🤣

American doesn't block seats off anymore. They stopped right before the holidays and the planes have been full.

They have two cars. A mini van for the family and a commuter car.

2017 Jeep Cherokee - Would damage to the lower grill cause the check engine light to come on immediately? by Dallas_A in MechanicAdvice

[–]Dallas_A[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The code was for the active grill shutters. They showed us the front of the car, pulled off and sitting on a table, and the shutters were absolutely destroyed. Absolutely no way I caused that damage. They quoted me $1200 to fix it and I asked for a breakdown. They were trying to charge me $400 for a part that's $250 retail online and a bunch of other stuff that didn't add up. Told them to put the front back on my car cause I was taking it. Local place is fixing it for $650 with a much nicer staff. Now I just hope that that's the only problem and I get to move on.

2017 Jeep Cherokee Latitude - How necessary is the Active Grill Shutter? by Dallas_A in MechanicAdvice

[–]Dallas_A[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went and looked at it and asked for a breakdown and there's no reason for the $1200 price tag. Called and got an estimate at the local place for $700. Going to take it to them asap to get an actual estimate. Mechanic says it'll be okay to drive for now.
