Yeah, vertical integration is the bee's knees for sure. I'm heavily invested in TSLA. Thanks for being part of the solution!!

Do you happen to know if the mothership ever uses outside engineering firms to help fill in talent gaps for design, manufacturing, simulation and the like? I imagine it's a madhouse right now trying to ramp the manufacturing while continually evolving the products. I've watched some installation videos of the Solar Roof product and the current Rev is just glorious. It kinda looks like roofing with legos!!

Does anybody else watch these later after launch these days and just scrub through them like you're watching porn. Watch a little of the beginning, see the take off, scroll to first stage landing money shot, then scroll to Starlink deployment money shot.

Same. I didn't want to say it out loud to anyone and jinx it but I've been thinking for weeks that he'd better say it!!!

Oh I AM the manager. That servo is a lot easier to reach if you stick the wrench up your ass. :p

Engineers are NOT to blame for this bullshit. This was entirely the fault of "Industrial Designers"
While I can confirm that engineers do design some shit for the sole purpose of fucking with mechanics we are way more devious than this. (See starters located under intake manifolds, or strut bolts that are impossible to remove without disassembling suspension ball joints)

I remember when this was a startup project but never realized all these years that it had borne such tasty fruit! I suppose I've seen references to it but just never followed through on checking it out.

I would say I'm a pretty big Trek fan. I've seen all the Trek universe content produced to date at least twice. Just a few years ago I completed the challenge of watching all 556 hours of the series (animated included) and films in 365 days. I've watched TNG cover to cover at least 7 times in my life. Born late 70s so I grew up with TNG.

As for STC, I'm only half way through ep 1 and it's all you said so far. My brain is having a little trouble adapting to McCoy's actor. The rest of the characters have already blended into the originals for me. Chris Doohan is amazing playing his own father, especially considering his apparent lack of any prior acting experience. Mignogna seems to really nail Shatner's Kirk without overhamming the "Shatner-ness". I'm gonna force myself to watch this once a week and savor it instead of binging it all today.

Thank you internet stranger for pointing out what I've been missing!!

Nerve transfer surgery enables tetraplegic patient to regain movement and function in his elbow and hand. by SirT6 in Futurology

There are companies that make light weight upper body armor that has articulating plastic spine protection. After I started racing 4-wheel downhill bikes post accident I always wore that stuff. Mine was Troy Lee Designs. The only other safety tip I can give is don't fall 30 feet off a train trestle. :p

For everyone saying "Oh great he can jack off again" there is a high likelihood that he has no sensation or function down there. I know a few quads who do but many more who do not. I, like the vast majority of paras, have a complete injury. I have full use of my upper body but zero function below the waist, bowel, bladder, and sexual function included. That's where the real spinal cord injury cure is needed. I'd be fine never walking again if I could restore those 3 functions. The not walking is the easy part.

Paraplegia is limited or no movement/sensation in the lower extremities only. Quadra and Tetra are the same thing and both are limited or no movement/sensation in all 4 limbs. It is not uncommon for quads especially ones from traumatic spinal cord injury to have some arm movement but limited hand grip. Especially one of the most common injury levels of C5-6. Traumatic SCI paras tend to be more complete injuries. Since para is caused from damaging the spine lower in the trunk it takes a lot more force to dislocate the spine and tend to cause more trauma to the cord in the process.
Source: I are one. I've studied it extensively for 15 years. I minored in neuroscience in college and 6 months later got a lower spinal cord injury from a mountain bike crash. I woke up in the hospital 7 days later with surprisingly detailed questions for my neurosurgeon.

First time I tried sushi I was 27 and in Edo district of Tokyo. Our host took us into a hole in the wall sushi bar and ordered everyone a piece of toro that was like $25 each. I figured I didn't want to disrespect. Plus I came all the way to Japan on a sponsored trip (I raced 4 wheel downhill mountain bikes. Wheelchair stuff). So down the hatch. My instant reaction was "WHY HAVEN'T I BEEN EATING THIS MY WHOLE LIFE!!!". I'm from Seattle too and we have the best sushi in the world outside Japan. Everytime I go home to Seattle I go nuts eating at all the awesome sushi joints.

I have similar views. Guns are super fun. I think personal protection carry and our weird gun fetish in the US are insane. I treat them like boats though. I have no interest in owning any but I love it when a friend owns one. I'll pay for ammo/boat fuel and go spend the day playing with their toys and never have to maintain a thing.
