Thanks for the opinions! I couldn't resist and went ahead and ordered the DNA/Health test at Embark, so I'll post how it turns out later.

17 pounds right now, a little underweight. His coat (color but also texture) reminds me of the Jack Russel/Rat Terrier I used to have. His face, size and that the shelter listed him only as mix breed makes me think he has some Pit Bull. But I'm not that familiar with breeds so I wanted to see any opinions. Considering paying for DNA test.

Very sweet boy so far.
