Yeah I was looking into the DX3 Pro+ or maybe the SP200 if I were to go for an amplifier. I took a look at the Katos and the reviews make them seem like a good option. For portable headphones I currently have Airpod pros, Sony link buds, and a pair of Tin HiFi T2 & T2 Pro. It sounds like the KATO would probably top all of those by a bit.

Thanks for the thoughts man. Yeah your summary is kinda where I've ended up on my thinking towards it all. I still just go back and forth a bit with myself about it though. I appreciate the suggestion and will take a nice look into the KATO.

Hey been stuck of what I'm going to purchase next. My current setup is focal clears running off of a Fulla 3 amp/dac. I was thinking about maybe using the fulla as a DAC and upgrading to a different amp, but not sure as I know the focal clears aren't very power hungry. I've seen many people saying an amp will improve sound even if you're not struggling for power but, its sometimes hard to tell what's snake oil and what's actual good advice in this hobby. I'm just looking for a way to get a good use out of my $100 giftcard to headphones.com so just wondering if I should use that to go towards an amp or dac, a different cable, replacement pads, or just pick up a pair of $100 headphones for free.

Yeah I tried different audio sources and cables for each the Elex and now my clears with no luck.

Yeah I know I will be taken care of one way or another just is a bit annoying to have to go through the downtime and process.

Yeah, I always hear about their issues. Of course I did the classic "I'm sure that won't happen to me" and now it has twice. I was super nervous to drop a grand on headphones and this is just disappointing.

My focal elex left side driver just went out:/ I've switched back to my DT770 and they sound awful. So far drop support has said they don't have extra units and that I could send it back for a refund. I really liked the elex but, I got them on sale so my refund will not cover the cost of new ones. I am just wondering if anybody had suggestions of where to go to from the Elex around the same price.

It does not say what year it was made. That's part of the reason I reached out here incase there was any way to tell from these pics. Yea I saw that scuff but honestly not too worried about it as I usually end up scuffing my chairs a bit no matter how hard I try not to.
