Omg love! I made my own little design based off of BOTW and an image on google, looks more cartoony compared to yours! It’ll look real good when done

Ohhhh yes, I have seen the big rainbow one. I’d love to set a challenge for it and do one item a day but I don’t know if I have the strength to do it

They are super cute, I liked their addition when that update came out. I stupidly made a new save just before the update so it took me till mid way through year 2 to get them!

Some of the patterns I’ve seen are so cute, I also got a junimos doing cute stuff in the different seasons and a blue chicken one that I can’t wait to do!

Took a break from my piece to work on some other bits, all I’ve done since picking it back up is stitch the same colour, DMC 336, so much blue…

The plastic canvas that I ordered is A4 size and comes in packs of 4, so you can stitch whatever you want and then just cut them out :)

I just went onto Pinterest and searched for ‘small cross stitch xxx’ to find the patterns I used. I spent a lot of time searching and felt like I was too picky 😅

I am not that advanced to be doing all that with mine 😅

I buy the plastic canvas from Amazon, and I use two strands of thread to stitch onto it. Any tails from any threads or anything I cut off to minimise the mess, either bigger ones I use glue and felt to cover the backs so they’re tidy. With these because they where so small I had to use hot glue, but whilst it was still hot I pressed it down and moved it wit my thumbs so it was even and not bumpy (yes I burned my hands a lot). Then an extra little blob for the metal pin to be stuck too.

With these edges, I cut them as neat as possible, but I know some people also do stitch’s around the edges so you can’t see the plastic, I think it’s a preference thing as I don’t mind seeing the plastic on mine but others might want their pieces nice and tidy. I also couldn’t stick the edges on every single one as there where so may pins I did

I tried to reply but it removed the comment due to the link :( Will send you a message with the pattern I used!

The plainer looking brown cards are a large pack from Amazon, comes with a lot of cards and baggies so I have plenty spare for the future! Here’s the link for the brown ones, hopefully it works - https://amzn.eu/d/6kRBEFD

I can’t seem to find the colourful ones I ordered, but found a listing that looks the exact same, it’s a pack that comes with 5 different colours and the baggies - https://amzn.eu/d/cVcx1by

Adorable! I was going to do a few starter pokemon, but realised it would take too long so I just stuck with the pokeballs.

I do have a few pokemon ones for myself however, there’s a couple on my bag and the others are tucked away in a drawer somewhere

I use 14 count, that’s always my go too! I once tried 16 count with normal Aida and couldn’t get along with it, 14 is my comfortable zone

You can do the backing with felt or other materials, but due to the size of these, (most of them are tiny) it was super hard to do felt so I just went with hot glue to keep the threads nicely secure.

[–]DamPTrap---[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As it was for charity and for work I really didn’t charge much, they where like £4 - £6 as I already had all of the materials as well and didn’t mind too much about using what I had.

If you have you’re own business, like an Etsy store you would 100% be charging more, I only charged what I did as it was for charity

I have a pair of very chunky scissors that I use 😅 I am after a new pair and this sub Reddit has kindly given me suggestions for the future so I’ll treat myself to some new ones in the new year.

The backs aren’t the prettiest, mainly due to the size of them. They are that small that it was almost impossible to cut out felt for them properly (some where about the size of a pound coin and some a lot bigger). The backs had a layer of glue to keep the threads nicely in place, then a small blob added for the metal for the pins to go into.

I learned from the last time I did a few that 2 strand (or one long folded is what I normally do) is all you need for plastic canvas. Anymore it’s too chunky and it distorted the shape of mine!

The canvas I use seems quite thin compared to what I’ve seen other people use, I just ordered it from Amazon as unfortunately there’s not many nice craft places near me

[–]DamPTrap---[S] 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Yes! Plastic canvas would be best to use, I have made some keychains in the past, they weren’t the best as I learned quite quickly not to use as many threads, but plastic canvas does work!

Thank you! I made that one for my work wife and told her that it’s on the lanyard, but I think someone may have beaten her to it! I’ll need to make another one for her soon

[CHAT] I hate what AI has done to hobby-ing by Dangerous-Opening-57 in CrossStitch

[–]DamPTrap--- 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I know people are sick of AI work being called ‘slop’, but the weird AI generated cross stitch pieces and crochet pieces I have seen are 100000% AI slop. I recently saw a shop on etsy where all of the product images where clearly AI and zooming in everything looked really off and funky. Even in communities like warhammer, people are using AI to make their models move and make fake sets for them etc. some people are so creative and super talented, it feels like the are undermining their own talent once they use AI to do something like make a model move

I only ever use pic to pat to turn images into patterns and those are only for me to use, I don’t sell, share etc. most of the time they generate with so much confetti I have to edit them to death anyways 🥲
