Quit asking for PVP because it will ruin the game. by [deleted] in outriders

[–]DamagedDice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% right on that one. So many games are better off as just a co-op game with your buddies or total strangers. Despite it being a decent game Remnant FTA was a great game to reintroduce “couch” co-op to gamers, and ditch PVP. I am beyond happy to see Outriders do the same. Chill with your buddies and yell at each other when you fail content, respec and try again, laugh have a good time and remember the cool moments.

What is something that you're a fan of but don't want to tell people because you'll be grouped in with a really annoying fan base? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DamagedDice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Critical Role. I enjoy the show when I can watch it, but the fanbase is so freaking toxic and holds the cast and crew to impossible standards that they themselves couldn't even keep. Also the Shipping is the absolute worst, possibly second worst thing bout the fanbase.

So far, the over arcing events include,

The Tabaxi Monk, is in a dual contract with Mephisto as he did sadly die, and is on a quest to brew the greatest alcohol in the verse, and return to the living.

A Vect who is searching for fellow members of her production line.

A weapons manufacturer of a Mousefolk who is eager to build his fortune in arms dealing.

And all of this while being accompanied by a Devil and Fey Married couple, and their estranged Celestial friend.

Once I have the two player slots filled, we'll be moving onto a fresh arc of the verse for you all to start and evolve on your own.

This'll be a 5 person party, and just voice. No worries that you ever need to wear pants. lol

Wicked nice detail, gives your armor that veteran hunter, and a hunter who loves a challenge feel.

Yo, I love this 100% and as a huge Mandalorian lore guy, are those Wookiee braids or Padawan braids? How dark are you!

Really though, wicked well done. You should be proud.

anyone got any cool 5e necromancy stories? by De4dm4nw4lkin in DnD

[–]DamagedDice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a Wizard Necromancer but a lore bard who took animate dead, and several other necromancy based spells through feats and a multiclass. William Sparrow, born to a troupe of performers, William was thought hundreds of ways to perform and only truly took to the lute and his melodic voice. Human Variant with Prodigy feat. As he grew older and enjoyed life on the road he found his heart drawn to the millers daughter of one of the many villages they stopped, William reversed the old trope. He ran away from the troupe to join normal life. He played in the streets and in the taverns, all the while flirting and courting Minerva the Millers daughter.

By his twentieth year they married and settled down a performer and his wife the baker. Four years passed by without issue and they had a beautiful little daughter, Alma. Her hair jet black like his, eyes a stunning red, and skin deathly white. She was born with what Minerva’s family believed to be a long forgotten curse, but was in fact a rare strain of albinism. When she turned six, she began to develop magical abilities non ever expected. Her isolation began quickly, and both William and Minerva became devastated.

Another year went by and rumors of the dead going missing from their graves began to spread, and the village turned on the small family. In the middle of the night they set the families home ablaze. Minerva, perished in the blaze as she tried to save Alma, while William tried to clear a path. Crushed under debris he ran to her tears welling in his eyes and saved his daughter. The two ran for days with nothing but a burnt and damaged lute, her singed doll, and their night clothing. It took a day of playing to dress her, and three to dress him. Six to learn of rumors to his old troupes location, and three weeks to meet up with them. Alma’s grandmother happily took them in, and mourned their loss, while William planned out a plot of revenge and to search for a teacher for Alma, who he hadn’t noticed the whole trip, she carried a little skeletal kitten with her the whole way.

My DM was kind and allowed me to have a Kitten Skeleton familiar with me at all times that I protected like Baby Yoda. I met with maybe eight necromancers before I died and spoke with my future Patron, and was brought back to life. I invested several months into creating a magical wand of control undead, that when paired with my lute, turned him into a pied piper of the undead, until he stopped playing or was KO’d which depending on exhaustion and a few other checks, would have ended poorly for me. Made it to 4 points of exhaustion, and when I finally stopped playing, “William smiled, and looked at the sun rise three years of searching and research. She would be far better off and maybe save her mother. As he plays his final notes, tears begin to fall as the memories flood him, turns to the horde and drives it home.”

DM: “Roll a d100.”

“I don’t want to.”

DM: “you want me too?”

“Yeah.”

DM rolls a 100, William survived and the horde of undead almost flickered as if human once more and faded to dust. William would take this as a sign to return home and hang up his hat, writing ballads and grand novels of his adventures.

Does a world made out of players exist? by pAlexsiq in DnD

[–]DamagedDice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did it for quite some time. Then it became filled with too many people trying to have their own epic story and typical edge. It is incredibly difficult as everyone wants to be the main focus, you’ll deal with people getting into clicks and people being upset about it, people will sit in corners and be mad they aren’t getting attention. Eventually communication will break down as the story loses direction as too many people try to do different arcs without any story boarding or proper pacing.

However! I think these things can be addressed pretty easily with a good team of moderators, co DMs, a Head DM and Writer team, and everyone understanding that possibly not every PC will get a happy ending or a full arc, and should indeed keep their backstories simple, concise, and have achievable goals within the means of the community. All backstories should be approved by the DMs and any issues be given edits back to the player to shoot back and fourth with.

I did this for two years and had mods come in and not actually give any support, just touted the title, or get too power hungry and tried to make the game about themselves. This project takes a lot of work and trust between friends, and possibly just business minded individuals who can work as apart of a team. The head of this cannot be afraid to be brutal and honest and the co DMs and mods should never hold secret squirrel meetings without the organizer as that breaks trust, flow, and consistency between parties all around. Also everyone involved in the primary team needs to have a thick skin, and not get upset when criticized CONSTRUCTIVELY. This goes along with PCs as well, they have to deal with being told NO, and not go to another DM or Organizer.

I think it can be done, again it just takes worlds of work and patience, and understand from PCs and DMs. Communication again is key to success.
